CFP Scenarios (merged)

LSU beats bama then takes down UGA in the SECCG. OSU/Michigan loser has a loss. TCU loses to Texas. That leaves OSU/Michigan winner and Clemson as the only undefeated teams assuming they handle ND tonight. Free for all among all those 1 loss teams for a spot. I'd have to think our resume would be the best of the 1 loss teams so that would give us a 3 seed in the playoffs. Hey, I know folks will laugh, but stranger things have happened. Hell, they DID happen for us in '98. We just need to win out and stay healthy then sit back and watch it all play out.

If this happens, our playoff chances are toast. We have to have UGA go 13-0 to have any shot at a playoff spot. UGA losing in Atlanta just means the SEC Champ and UGA go to the playoff.

13-0 UGA means 11-1 Tennessee is in the playoff

12-1 UGA means the SEC Champ that beat UGA and UGA are in the playoff

Also it is clear you didn't watch the CFP on Tuesday..... They literally screamed they don't value TCU's schedule and how they are winning vs their schedule.... You can't win by 10 over the likes of WVU and Texas Tech and expect to get bumped in the rankings.... Clemson's season has been much better than TCU's.... That is why they got put at the 4 spot in the initial rankings even though your beloved "SOS" stat is in TCU's favor.

Pay attention.

They seed them, when it matters, after the championship games.....

I dont love TCU, but i realize that a P5 undefeated gets in the top 4..... other than your opinion, nothing has ever happened historically to debate that

TCU debuted in the rankings at 7..... The only changes that have happened since are #1 losing to #3.... There is nothing that has happened this week that has caused TCU to bump up in the rankings. The 6 teams in front of them just reshuffle....

And if you think it is a lock that an undefeated P5 school gets in the playoff no matter what, what 4 teams get in if the following happens on conference title week? I can sure as hell guarantee you that 13-0 TCU does not get in with the below scenario. And if that is the case, the above notion that "an undefeated P5 gets in the top 4" is false.

13-0 Clemson ACC Champ
13-0 Ohio State / Michigan Big 10 Champ
12-1 UGA / SEC Title Game Loser as #1 Ranked Team
12-1 Bama / SEC Champ
13-0 TCU / Big 12 Champ

There are 5 teams that are undefeated - 4 of them, provided they all survive today - will be 1 - 4. TCU may be 5 depending upon what happens between Bama and LSU. The question is whether we will be considered the best of the 1 loss teams.

The conference champs get in, as i said earlier.....

Your opinion that 2 SEC teams get in over an undefeated P5 champ is just that

This is irrelevant. There is nothing today that happened that has caused any of the 6 teams above TCU to drop out of the top 6 and there is nothing TCU did today in a 10 point win over the Lubbock Powerhouse to move up above the 7th ranking.

Since #1 lost to #3, we likely fall to #4 at best and #5 at worst.

Genuine question, as long as we win out after this horrific loss, what scenario gets us in? Anyone have a solid explanation?
Clemson losing to NOTRE Dame and Ohio St losing to Michigan all UT has to do is win out. After losing to Ga they’ll drop to #4. No worries.

If Georgia is undefeated going into the SEC Champ and loses to Bama or whoever do you honestly think they will drop Georgia out of the playoff ?

I was told by all the prognosticators on here that a 13-0 TCU would get in over a 1 loss SEC team... That includes a 12-1 UGA who loses in Atlanta to a 12-1 West team..... Apparently people think a 13-0 TCU would get in for winning the Big 12 over a 12-0 UGA #1 ranked team losing in Atlanta..... Atleast that is what they tell me.

I would think we fall to 6 and at most 7. One of Michigan - Ohio State going to drop out So, we will be 5-6th. We need Alabama, Clemson, or TCU to lose before a conference championship to get to 4. If everyone wins out then we have Alabama vs Georgia In Championship with Alabama dropping out if Georgia wins possibly putting us 4th.

That is ridiculous. Nobody can convince me that an undefeated TCU team is better than a 1 loss Georgia team

There is no way that #1 losing to #3 would cause that big of a drop. However if we fall outside the top 5, we are toast for the playoffs and I will gladly admit if i'm wrong.

Full disclaimer is that I predict us to be 4th at best or 5th at worst come Tuesday.

And for the love of God, quit mentioning TCU.... They are irrelevant in regards to our playoff chances.

Georgia needs to win out including SEC championship. Ohio State needs to dominate Michigan and win out. Clemson and TCU need to lose.
Also would prefer Bama losing to LSU. Then beat Ole Miss. Oregon lose to Utah and USC lose to UCLA. UT needs to dominate the next 3 opponents.

I think the 3 best teams in the nation are in the SEC.....the playoff comittee made up of BS aristocrats will pick a P5 undefeated champ over a 1 loss runner up....its not my opinion, but a fact they've committed to

False......

TCU and Ohio state looked bad today, with a Bama win we move to 6. Bama loss we will be at 5.

So if UGA loses in Atlanta at the #1 ranked team to an 11-1 Alabama team and they are both 12-1, you are saying that 13-0 TCU would get the nod over UGA, meaning UGA would drop 4 spots at minimum for losing to a top 4 Bama?

There is no reality where that scenario happens, but if you say yes, send me some of that substance you are using. I need that kind of high.
