CFP Scenarios (merged)

Clemson losing is critical. If this score holds, ACC isn’t getting in. Then, you have to hope that TCU loses and that Pac12 doesn’t have a good team. Then, it should be 1) UGA, 2) winner of OSU/ Michigan 3) loser of OSU/ Michigan and 4) UT. Power brokers of sport probably wouldn’t mind it being 2 SEC East and 2 Big 10 East teams, in order to get the other 3 conferences so pissed off that they agree to an early expansion to 12 playoff teams in 2024.

TCU doesn't matter, unless you think they are going to rocket up the rankings after beating Texas Tech today by 10 points.....
If they run the table there’s no way they’re left out over us. They actually have a better remaining schedule than we do if you include the Big 12 Championship. Ohio State shot up in 2014, it can happen.

Tennessee's out. Ohio State/Michigan will get at least 1, UGA will get 1, Clemson will get 1 unless they lose (but they're in the ACC so they won't lose), and that leaves one slot. That final slot's gonna go to either undefeated TCU, a one-loss Alabama that wins the SECCG, or the loser of Michigan-Ohio State.

Tennessee losing in the way it did to UGA is gonna drop them into that pool but with TCU and Clemson being undefeated, it's just not going to happen.
No

It looks like ND might take Clemson out tonight. The Irish are playing lights out so far. Same for LSU.

There is still hope for the Vols. The thing is, it won't matter if the Vols can't play defense.

I think there are a few ways they would get left. UGA losing in Atlanta for one would cause them to get left out if Clemson is 13-0 and OSU/Michigan are 13-0....

SEC will get 2 teams in this year, it is just a matter of it being UGA and TENN or UGA and BAMA/Ole Miss.

If we are talking precedent aka OSU in 2014, we can make the argument as recently as last year that a #1 ranked 12-0 team losing in Atlanta would stay in the top 4.... UGA didn't stay in the top 4 after getting blasted by Bama last year just because there wasn't another P5 13-0 team out there.

The fact there was no other undefeated P5 is why they stayed in the top 4, lol

Call it an L

#4 Clemson, #5 Michigan, and #6 Alabama are currently trailing. If 2 out of 3 of those scores hold, we shouldn't drop any further than 4. We need to win out (with style points) and I think we're in. Call me a homer, but I don't think Georgia beats us again on a neutral site.

Alabama is in a dog fight. Clemson is down two scores.

With some help we could move to 4. Without, we’re top 6 for now.
