Chances for Tee Martin

not if he is promoted, I think. He can get a title like associate head coach and get out of buyout. I think that is correct

That's true!! In fact his title will Recruiting Cor./AHC/WR's. Also, if there is a significant raise involved, the buyout clause is waived!! Which I also think will happen.

Well, at least it was warm and not like 20 degrees. Hopefully, he'll forget that it gets cold as hell here.

I'm guessing Tee is coming and will accept based on CBJ's latest tweet. Says he is heading to Nashville to meet some of the nations best players.

It's laughable how there was so much hand-wringing from our fans about Dooley losing coaches and recruits because of the hot seat he was on but nobody even acknowledges the fact that Kiffin possibly being on a hot seat himself could be a reason for Tee to look at coming home.

When the full impact of the ncaa sanctions hit sc will begin suffering losing seasons which could lead Tee to jump ship. :good!:

Looks like he headed back to California without making a decision. We should know one way or the other in a couple of days.

Don't have a good feeling on this one. I hope I am wrong.

1) The longer it goes the worse it is for us. He said he likes USC and is proud of their recruiting class. He also sits behind enemy lines while he thinks, and is surrounded by those who want him to stay there.

2) UT is home, but it's not an easy task. He'd be coming to take on a rebuild and job security isn't guaranteed. If Butch were to fail he could be looking for a fourth job in less than 6-7 years (KY,USC,UT,?)

3) Southern Cal is an attractive place to live. Tee likes it there, so does the family, taking kids schools, friends, life into consideration sways a man with high character like Tee.

I want him here, but my gut tells us this one isn't going our way.

that is absolutely typical... look at any coach's pedigree and you'll see

sure but an equivalent salary here is de facto a 200% raise

you may be right about him staying but it won't be for those reasons

I have the feeling that he will not leave USC. If that is the case, good riddance and take the damn street sign with you. Choosing to stay at USC with Lane Kiffin over coming back to UT shouldn't even have to be thought about in my opinion.

SoCal is very nice as an area/place to live *but* USC itself is not situated in a great area so we've got that going for us.

This. And don't go negative on Tee if he doesn't come to UT.

Been thinking about Tee as an addition here and CBJ's comments that he'd reach out. It would seem to make sense to give UT a long look at this point. Kiffin will be on the hot seat next year, so Tee will be as well if he remains. UT would seem to be the better job security for now, as a new staff here is going to be guaranteed (barring a meltdown of epic proportions) 3 years, so job security looks to be slightly better here at the imoment. Thoughts?

Also, have there been any actual reports of contact yet, or any comments about Tee's interest in a spot on this staff?
I would not put a brand on Tee since Kiffin has already had him a year.
He's been Kiffinized sorry guys he is a USC man his wife must be a star. Tn. is too sml.for him now!

I agree. Hell with streets and national championships. Its not about the better job better publicity with where he is at or the money. If he decides to stay at usc, he better not show his face near Neyland Stadium again.

Your post is over the top, but I will admit it would be a huge bummer.

I mean, I know he isn't obligated to come here by any stretch of the imagination, but it's not like his wife is Alicia Keys, and it's not like the weather here is terrible (or even bad, really). I just don't know why those are legit reasons. I could understand it if things were going awesome at USC, but they're really not. There, you have a coach in Lane Kiffin who could very well be on the hot seat next year (which usually means the entire staff would be too, including Tee), on top of the sanctions that are really about to start kicking in, and it's not like Martin would be working with table scraps here (to say the absolute least, obviously). We're in all likelihood about to have 2 receivers go fairly early in the NFL draft, and we have some good talent waiting in the wings behind them. We just brought in a winning coach who seems to have a plan in place and knows what he wants to do.

It just seems like, under those circumstances, the vast majority of rising young coaches would jump on the opportunity to coach at their alma mater and continue building their career. Especially if they know they have an opportunity to play a part in hopefully restoring the winning tradition that was alive and well while they were there...

Maybe I'm just selfish. I may sound like a petty fan, but having said all that, I don't see a problem with people who would feel a bit shafted if he picks USC over UT. I know I would.

I hope he comes.

Why do you have such an obsession with T Martin? If I coached with the same staff for six years, then I am bringing that success with me. Why do I want a whole new staff that I have to get to know? Let it go and let the coach do his job! Do you have better credentials for picking a staff than he does? How long were you a head coach in college?

Tee can recruit his azzz off & he is a good coach!!!! He also has got his fingers in that California market!!!!! New head coaches have a lot of fear with this job because of all the pressure of up keeping the tradition & these cut throat VOLS fans!!!!! Why do you think we have such a hard time trying to get a big name coach!!!! Having Tee,the quarterback that gave us our undefeated season & our National Championship, a VFL,a former NFL qb, COME ON MAN!!!!!!!!!
