I agree but I think this incident has been wildly sensationalized - particularly on this forum.

You can’t be serious. How much play did this get on MSM outlets as proof Trump has ruined this country and minorities must live in fear of all the racists prowling our streets. This story was a godsend to them and they were happy to run it. And I think we can agree if two white men were arrested for this they wouldn’t get a plea deal for three days of community service and a $10k fine.

Reminds me of a piece of advice from a former boss, talking about a particular neighborhood in Houston where “the action” was. He said if you drop your wallet on a certain street, kick it a couple of blocks before you pick it up.
