Charges Dropped in the Jussie Smollett Case

I'tll be interesting to see how they treat these celebs and high falooten big wigs who got rung up on the college admissions deal. Some of these folks are krazy loaded.

Rich , straight , white parents sending their rich , white metro sexual kids to affluent colleges by cheating the system and bribes ? My first guess would be public executions from a Mexican firing squad . If not that I would imagine something close to the hunger games platform .

Plea deal. Misdemeanor, fine/probation with community service.

Watching the PC I was shocked at how angry Rahm Emmanuel was. I assumed based on his past that he was probably alright with the outcome. Unless he is playing both sides (then he's a better actor than Smollett) he along with the Police Chief was very upset with this. I thought at one point he was going to call on President Trump to send in the Justice Department to investigate (which he might by phone.)

I imagine not much will happen to them either. Prosecutors love cases like that because when charges are initially brought, it appears that nobody is above the law. When the charges are dropped, a not guilty verdict, or light sentence comes out later, not as many people are paying attention.

I can only think of one exception off-hand to this rule - Bernie Ebbers (CEO of WorldCom) got 25 years for his crimes; he's still in jail and will be until 2028, when he's 86. Effectively a life sentence. Madoff got a life sentence, but the break he got was that nobody investigated him despite a lot of smoke and warnings from people over the years. He still got a benefit of the doubt that a regular person wouldn't have.

Even the Enron guys I think got off rather easy given the fraud they perpetuated. Andy Fastow got 6 years and Skilling got 12. Lay died before he was sentenced. When you cause that many people to lose that much money, that seems like life in prison stuff to me, or something close to it. There are low-to-mid level cocaine dealers who get harsher sentences than that.

He must be fairly tight with his police force. Remember during some of the controversial police shootings in Chicago? He stood with Chicago cops then too. He was a progressive out of step with his bandwagon on those cases too.

I don't think this thread is going to go the way you think. You have already drawn the wrong conclusions. I did too but in light of this new information, you really have to suspect police misconduct.
If Rahm is kicking and screaming you can rest assured knowing it’s not his police department that is guilty of misconduct

I think I saw where the State Attorney (Foxx) is a family friend of Smollett. That dude WROTE A F*&KING check to those two cats to pay them for the bleach and rope and sht. A CHECK, signed by Smollet. I mean, how is the corruption this deep? This is next level. D.C. ain't got nothing on Chi-Town.

This smells but I am sure the people that were pulling his strings would rather fight off this firestorm here in Chicago rather than let it into their worlds. Maybe Spartacus is having another moment?

...and it's pretty brazen too. I mean, the prosecutor who made the decision said more or less he just didn't want to prosecute this:

“We work to prioritize violent crime and the drivers of violent crime,” Mr. Magats said. “I don’t see Jussie Smollett as a threat to public safety.”
I mean, Enron wasn't a threat to public safety either, or Madoff...should the charges against them have been dropped too?

How about drop charges, lose 10k, you tell us who was involved in setting this up in connection with kamalas and sparticus lynching bill and we might consider losing the federal charges...??? Not to mention you have to spill your connections to CNN??

You know Jussie was correct though. He was truthful during the whole thing. He said two guys attacked him. True. They had red hats (that he bought for them). True. They put a noose around his neck gently (that he bought for them). True. They yelled "Dis iz MAGA county!" Probably mostly true. While a previous loon mentioned he did not mention race that is also true but the whole red hats and MAGA country shtick was to insinuate White people to try and further the whole White Supremacist Nazi myth the left pushes about Trump or anyone who doesnt agree with them.
