Charlie Strong

1. Knows the SEC
2. Will not let players dictate and will have their respect.
3. Will be the next Kevin Sumlin and we will be sitting here thinking damn, we could of had this guy.
4. Knows the value of getting hands dirty and outworking on the recruiting trail.

Listen, I would love to have Jon Gruden but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. Next best candidate in my opinion is Coach Strong.

His recruiting sucks...Not sure where you get he's a great recruiter.

You know, I got caught up in the Gruden mania myself. While all that was going on I was kinda turning my nose up at guys like Fadora and Strong. But after looking at their backgrounds these guys have done it the right way and I think are primed and ready for a big time chance. People keep bringing up Sumlin. I'd like to bring up how Sumlin's #6 ranked Houston team with a Heistman candidate QB got totally sh!t stomped by Fadora in the C-USA champ game 2 years ago 49-28. Fadora stepped into a pretty tough situation at UNC and did well IMO. He'd need to get a good DC though.

My issue with Fedora is he got beat by Duke. That's their equivalent to being beat by KY.

Interesting to point that out. UT has only gone .680% all time. And it isn't like the SEC has been the premier conference for that whole time, either. I know most people don't want to admit that, but the SEC's dominance is a relatively new (20 years) development.

Do you not remember the past five years? 3 losing seasons in 5 years? 2 bowl games. 2 bowl losses.

Strong has at least beaten ranked teams, been to a bowl game every year and actually WON a bowl game.
There are twenty other coaches who have beaten ranked teams, been to a bowl game every year and actually WON a bowl game.

Former TN running back Jabari Davis made a great point just a moment ago about Coach Strong. He said Coach Dooley tried hard to stay away from recruits that may be borderline character issues. Davis understood what Dooley was trying to do but also admitted that to find top talent sometimes you have to go into the hood (his words not mine) and work with that talent. Davis said, the bottom line is that you have to get some young men that have questionable track records but have the ability to be a father figure to them and change them as a person and a player.

He knows Charlie Strong very well and said Strong can go into any young man’s home and make that mother or father feel good about sending their son to UT. And he can take that young man that doesn't have the support at home and has personal/character issues and work it out of them and turn them into great young men on and off the field. Jabari works with hundreds of underprivileged kids here in Atlanta, the man wouldn't say that if it wasn't a fact.

This, not to mention his team is 10 -2 and last time i checked they are playing in the Orange Bowl. Winners Win and Losers Lose Coach Strong is a winner who may not be the home run hire that most of our deluded fans are wanting but he just might be the Right Hire.
I see him getting us back to where we have always been within a reasonable amount of time and at the same time he gets us there with an unbelievable amount of class.

I don't get why you people don't back Strong more. He just won the big east title and has his team in a BCS bowl and will probably play an SEC team. If he wins that will just make him that much more atractive of a hire.

How many have even gotten the chance?

P.S. Eddie Robinson says hi.

P.S. Eddie Robinson only coached against other small black colleges his entire career :ermm: Very very few if any have success at major programs.

I believe our cheap route will be to keep Chaney, Pittman, Hinshaw, Graham and then pickup a defensive minded up and comer like strong and a new DC.

On average very few white coaches do either.

Sample sizes and what not

So help me out here Strong supporters;

You claim he is an out of this world recruiter, and that he would bring talent into UT, but looking at his classes at Louisville I'm not seeing it. If he was such a bad ass recruiter he should be getting talent left and right.

Not that Rucker would know but great news if true.

Does auburn want him??

Rucker said that is from his coaching friends who Strong considers brothers in the industry. I don't think Auburn is a threat. Too much turmoil. I think it is Tenn or the Cards for Strong. IMO

He's a football coach and a damn good one!!!! Not a black football coach!!!! Screw that post

I think the cards are paying him fairly well comparatively and they could pony up more.

Charlie Strong's recruiting record at Louisville would indicate that he can't recruit. At least not when he's selling anything other than Florida.

He has sucked it up recruiting at L'ville. He has not improved their recruiting ONE bit. In fact his 2013 class is currently #68 overall, 20 spots below last year's class. This while he has a BCS bowl season to hep out his efforts.

Stop it everyone with the claims that he is a great recruiter. He did well under someone else's leadership when he was selling a championship team, but when he is in charge he has not shown anything as a recruiter.

I live 15 mins away from Louisville and just for the record nobody can recruit.good to Louisville. The stadium is tiny and ugly. They are a bball school and the city is not that great. They have no tradition and were playing in a lame duck conference. He would do great at ut. Louisville is not an easy sell no matter who the coach is.

You cant tell them anything. One win vs. Rutgers and he is all world.

People are seriously bringing race in to this? Oh my ****ing lawlz.

Reason #2333 that people look down on this fan base. I'm ashamed to say I share the same favorite team as some of the people I've seen on this forum.

UL could potentially match us, but that would be because we refused to big too high. UL can't match our facilities, resources, conference, potential, ect.
