Charlie Strong

Gruden, Stoops, Gundy, and Peterson aren't coming. No need to bring them in the discussion.

Tressell is a walking risk. Fedora is as much risk as Strong IMO. Patterson and Mora are less of a risk than Strong no doubt. I don't thin Patterson will come here. I don't think he would fit here honestly. He would have to kiss babies and shake hands here. Not sure he would want to do all that. Mora Jr doesn't have a long track record either. Also has the same personality as Dooley.

I like Mora, Patterson, Fedora, but just pointing out they are a risk as well.

And just where is Butch in all this. OB status in jeapardy.

I am starting to hate the Gruden guys. While I would love to have him here the Gruden-Aid drinkers were rude to anyone who questioned the rumors. They are nothing but sheep. They can GTFO!

I'm want gruden. I've always been a fan. But it became reality obviously. Time to consider other coaches I'm just upset there's not better coaches available at this time but maybe they'll fork out the gruden money they supposedly had and steal somebody.

Agreed, they ALL have a degree of risk. And sometimes it just doesn't work out for no fault of anyone. I hope we get a stablizing force that bring us together. Tressell is more of a risk than I would prefer, but I just have a feeling he has learned his lesson and is intelligent enough to put together a plan to get us back.

I feel like I was just caught in adultry...

Skeeter said he isn't in consideration. I would've told you but you have been working so much, and don't notice me at home.

The group mentally of believing rumors like they are gospel on the Internet would make for an interesting thesis.

I didn't say he was the only one. He isn't, obviously.

But, for the things that our athletic department is looking for (SEC experience), how many fit that list?

By the way Charlie has won a bowl game, I believe his record is 1-2 in bowl games, one of those losses was as interim coach against Miami when he was at UF.

How many coaches, of those 20, have SEC experience, and are obtainable (not Saban, Stoops, Miles, Gundy, Patterson, Peterson b/c they aren't leaving)?
I fail to see where our AD is requiring SEC experience. Dave Hart stated he is looking for someone who "knows the difficulty of climbing the ladder in the SEC." Its MFin' tough, and EVERY COACH IN AMERICA knows this. He said successful with integrity.

I was responding to the other guy. No one ever said CS did not win a bowl game. If I find the time I will collate data on the previous 3 years bowl games.

I don't hate him. He is simply not anywhere close to the top of the coaching scale for which the University strives to dwell. I see too much risk for now. He may be an elite coach one day. Tennessee needs a proven HC.

UT football over the last 7-8 years is not exactly the top of the college football scale, for which elite coaches strive to dwell, either. UT may be an elite program again one day, but it ain't today.

I mean, this isn't 1990's UT football looking for a coach; it's 2000's UT football... the same program that is 52-48 (.520) in their last 100 games over the last 8 years, and is now on probation through most of 2015.

Facilities, tradition, and history are great, but the best coaches don't typically hamstring themselves taking on troubled programs with serious issues that threaten their chances of overall success... especially when those programs and their fans are running short on patience for turning things around.

Coaches are likely looking at the UT job and seriously considering whether or not they think they can get the job done in 2 or 3 years, because that's probably all they're going to get.

My list has been

Gruden
Stoops
Tressell
Grundy
Mora, Jr.
Peterson
Patterson
Fedora

I don't have "one" that I am centered on, but several I don't think will unify a splintered fan base and also supervise an Elite program.

Pretty sure Tressel has a show cause. And you take him out of the #5 HS talent state and he's not that great. SEC teams have proven they can beat Tressel every time, why would he be so high on your list?

So what exactly are our penalties?

The show cause is certainly of some concern. I believe his name is one that can recruit pretty well nationally. I believe he understand deep-tradition programs and how to manage a program of that level. Tressell, I believe can get us up many notches from where we are now because he has been up there. Ohio State has demonstrated this year a lot under Myer's coaching. But, let's face it, Tressell put things in place for Myers success.

Read the above, considered our psychotic fanbase, and wondered if anyone could unite us. Scrolled down and read...

LOL... I don't think you could hold anyone to that expectation.

(Note, Karma, not calling you psychotic. Just proving a point with anecdotal evidence. :)

yes...you are correct..let me amend my statement to reflect "unifying MOST of the base." :)

Interesting to point that out. UT has only gone .680% all time. And it isn't like the SEC has been the premier conference for that whole time, either. I know most people don't want to admit that, but the SEC's dominance is a relatively new (20 years) development.

Do you not remember the past five years? 3 losing seasons in 5 years? 2 bowl games. 2 bowl losses.

Strong has at least beaten ranked teams, been to a bowl game every year and actually WON a bowl game.

Who?

Tressel's college coaching career is effectively over. No major program is going to touch him with a ten foot pole.

Strong/Fisher/Fedora <--all GREAT hires. I personally want Strong. We've shown what we can do on offense. Give us a defense and let's get it. Charlie knows his D for REAL.

I asked a UF fan what he thought of Strong -

He said:

I would prefer Tennessee hire Gruden over Strong. Also note that I am a Florida fan and I am terrified of what Strong can do at a potential powerhouse program.
