Strong is doing the right thing. He is deflecting the fact that he will talk to other teams. UL's AD has said they will break the bank to keep him. Strong has to go through the motions of looking like he would consider options elsewhere to get the biggest raise he can. I think he ends up staying at UL for maybe 2.75 million a year. People say he wants to be in the SEC and that may be true. Now that UL is in the ACC, I could see he would be content with the chance to win a NT there(BE, not so much).

Why not?

To not support someone from day one is simple prejudice, and I am not speaking about race. To not support the new hire (whoever it is – regardless of reason) without giving him the opportunity to prove himself is to pass unfavorable judgment without merit – the definition of prejudice.

A difference of opinion based on variously interpretable results is one thing. In such context I can understand the aforementioned “rift”. Just like what we have been through with DD (post hire).

This fan base needs to come together to support whomever is hired until they have been given the opportunity to prove themselves.

Bet you’d be back on board if we are playing for a championship in 3 years which begs the question, what defines a “fair weather” fan?

And people wonder why our fan base is divided. Well, I certainly am divided from this way of thinking.

He didn't leave it open he kicked the damn thing off the hinges. If he was staying he would have said what Stoops and the rest have. I am staying at Louisville! He was asked if he was 100% committed to staying and he completely side stepped it with lets just focus on the game.

Or....

He is not going to let the AD know he is fully content at UL so he could get a raise. Telling the country he is not going anywhere and WILL BE at UL next season cuts his legs out from under him when it comes to the UL AD ponying up some extra cash for a good year. You have to play the game, and CS did that.

Here's the only problem I have with Strong.

He's #73 in recruiting this year.

Last year, he pulled in 3 4*'s, and the year before, he pulled in 4 4*'s.

I'm just not sure if he is the best recruiter. And I'm not sure how he would recruit in the SEC.

That's my only doubt about him.

I don't know, he was outraged when that Auburn report came out.

Im to the point where I either want him or Patterson. Patterson would be my first choice,but I could live with strong.

I fully understand that issue because had he lost the game, people would point to he was not fully vested in UL and was seeking other opportunities. Now that the game is over, it's open season and all the "talk of options" does is set him up for a rasie or a new job if the AD does not back up his claims to make CS the highest paid coach in the country. Of course I hope Hart would not offer him anywhere north of 3 million. His reseume just does not call for that type of salary yet.

Strong was protecting his team and his team's chance to win the Bog East Championship. As good as information that Skeeter has shared on this board, he does not know any more you and I in regards to what Strong and Dave Hart shared in their meeting on Friday and where both sides stand.

The bottom line is that Dave Hart is very good at keeping information close to the vest and does not share much with anyone, thus the elimination of true insiders.

Strong is an elite recruiter. He is coaching at Louisville. He pulled Bridgewater away from the big 3 and recruits light up when they talk about him.

Multiple 5 star recruits just moved to the edge of their seats! After Gruden, we must get Strong. Some don't realize how close we really are to disaster as far as talent level on our roster. We need a GREAT recruiting class signed in Feb. we can afford not to have a top 2 or 3 SEC class now. next year may be too late. He would do great. He has great relationships with them. He has great relationships with the Carolina recruits. He has great relationships with certain big FL and GA recruits as well. I would predict a top 5-10 class this year and a monster top 3 class in 2014 class. The surprising thing is the relationships he has with kids on the team. Guys on the team absolutely light up when they talk about Strong and their Strong recruiting stories. I was really surprised by this.

I've heard a lot of talk about his salary and him not being worth the money UT would have to pay. I've not researched it because he's irrelevant to my list, but I've heard it would be really not smart to offer him the kind of money he would need to come here as a head coach.

I think Skeeter knows more than us, it might not be much but I think he does.

Rucker said on his radio show yesterday that two people who are like brother to Charlie Strong in the coaching world said he is very interested in the UT job. They said he wants the UT job more than AU and Arky and its not even close.

Hubbs stated today that he thinks Strong would accept the job if Hart wants to go in that direction.

That was a personal reputation thing. It would look horrible if he was out interviewing for another job during game week. Coaches drill all week to their kids about the importance of Saturdays, and getting rid of distractions. How does it look if a coach is out on a job interview a coupe of days before the last game of the season, with a BCS bowl berth on the line?

Uh... No.

With all these posts about Strong (possibly) becoming our next HC, I now understand what all the Gruden fanatics were going through.
