Charlie Strong

IDK smart coaches have done it before. It's dicey I mean your playing a team with superior talent and your kids have just been told you quit them to go somewhere else.

It could get ugly.

True. However, coaches are very loyal to schools that give them their first shot

I think he may very well insist on coaching the game. Will tenn or Louisville allow him to do so is the question

Idk man. I don't keep up with scenarios like this but it seems like more don't than do.

You've just broke the kids hearts then you're going to hang around for one game. Clean break IMO.

There is zero chance of Petersen going to Boise

Believe he already did...a few years ago actually. JK. Know you meant Arkansas but since this is all hypothetical anyway, just wondering if he did end up leaving and our crack AD didn't even bother to talk to him to ask interest.

I get it and as a fan I'd like to see it I'm just saying it could turn into bad PR for us if he gets blown out.

I agree on the risk of him getting stomped or the reward of him winning the upset. However that's the stuff that affects us. We may want him to skip it so bad but if he wants to coach it, I fully support regardless the outcome.

On a different note I think a players coach like Strong could be exactly what some of our shook up defensive players could use. By all accounts I read players respected him wherever he was. That was badly lacking with last crew.

I agree more don't than do. I just think the entire system sucks. IMO coaches should be contractually obligated to coach the entire season before leaving. Maybe a tampering rule should be put in place like the nfl.

I can understand that. I could understand him wanting to. My concerns 1st and foremost though if hired is for him to get to the business we need him on though. I'm not saying I'd be a proponent us us preventing him but I'd hope he'd not want to.

The conference argument is weak. Saban, Meyer, Spurrier, Beamer, B. Kelly, and many more have all coached in "weak" conferences.

Rarely does a coach just come into a coaching job with a national powerhouse.

I don't fully understand why the dead periods are the way they are but I think that is the driving force behind timing of these deals.

I'm not sure what this is in reference to.

Dead periods protect coaches and recruits. Can you imagine a Christmas party for a 5 star recruit with it being a legal time for an Inhome visit? It's a good rule

No way I would hire CCS and allow him to coach that game. It is time to recruit and his new job would be to start buidling UT and not game preping for UL. If he wants the job, he needs to start immediately.

I can't recall any coach who has taken a new job and coached the bowl game of his former team.

We have a lot of attitude problems and I feel like Strong could fix people's attitude on this team. He is very intimidating (not because he is an African American male) but I bet nobody will act up while he is head coach.

They won't act up because they respect him, and love playing for him
