I hate to say this but I really think most of the hype about Gundy is because of that damn press conference 5 years ago or whenever.

Someone posted a twitter saying that Strong had not been in contact with UT. I find it hard to believe that he hasnt been in contact with UT. I am not saying he would be that homerun hire. He would be a solid hire though.

USMCgng, I ignored this guy, thanks for being a veteren as well. Anyone who can be ignorant about what happens in War and then says stuff like that on a mssg board because they disagree isn't the kind of person I try to reason with.

He also inherited an awful program, is one of the most respected defensive minds in college football, and is a great recruiter.

That defense UF was winning with? That was Strong's doing.

Where is the solid info that he has denied? That is some goober on twitter saying it. All other reports when speaking with media is that he is not going to talk about job rumors.

That whole score 45 a game thing worked well for us this year. Gundy had no ties to the south and never has been known as a great recruiter. Strong has put more people in the NFL than Gundy.

Im just saying if there are no racial issue - either for or against, then I really dont see how his record or name would in anyway be better than anybody else we are considering. What does he offer in real results? Not feelings or unknown potential? From what ive researched his win/loss record is less than 65% and he has not recruited exceptionally well either. Facts......just facts. Yall dont ever put up facts because they dont support your enthusiasm over this guy. Lets see the damn facts that he has acquired on his own......not riding the coat tails of great programs with great HC's like UF or USC.

My reasons for liking him are pretty simple.

• He's a defensive minded coach; Defense wins Championships
• He has been a DC in the SEC
• He has been a DC for 2 different NC level coaches; Spurrier & Meyer
• He's had Louisville in top 25 for Defense for multiple years
• He has won a division title, however ugly it was done
• He has shown progress at a down University
• Players respond to him and respect him

Once again, where does HE rank in recruiting over HIS HC career?
Florida always has good D.....with or w/o him.
Where did HIS team rank- that would be louisville......not florida.
I dont dislike him. He's absolutely a candidate. But is he top candidate......or is he the only one we can realistically get?

I haven't wandered onto other teams' boards before...For those that have, I'm curious, do those fan bases argue as much as we do? haha. If there's one thing about our fan base, we're rabid...for good or bad haha.

Louisville is top 25 this yr in defense. Thats 3rd best in big east. BTW bowling green is #7 def in country. With that said, he is an upgrade because my battery would die before i could look thru enuf pages to find where tenn defense ranks.

Thanks. Keep in mind I'm not in love with Strong. I think Fisher is the safer bet. I'd just like to see us take a risk on Strong as I really want a Defensive minded coach. I also think he has a chip on his shoulder and has the most to prove, in his mind, IMO a guy like Gundy or Fisher would just blame the situation if they had bad runs here and land on their feet.
Also IMO defense still rules in the SEC as witnessed this weekend. One other thing I like about Strong is he does not have ties really to a specific SEC school. FL snubbed him in passing him over especially in taking Muschamp, another defensive coach, and he played at Central Arkansas.
