The thing about threads like this is that they allow people to make whatever stupid comments they want and then if they don't come true, they can dissapear. If they do come true they can bump them and pretend they were a genius all along.

I knew LSU had some interest but I thought he was interviewing at Clemson today?

According to the Sports Animal earlier he was indeed interviewing at Clemson today. They also said that he had been contacted by an intermediary to see if he had any interest in the LSU job. They said he had not been in direct contact with LSU.

The bright side is that we will always have a shot in the 4th quarter when playing LSU.

I kid, I kid!

Monte is almost 70 years old people, he took one of the hugest pay cuts ever to leave NFL and come to NCAA, hmmmm.. a big downgrade like that kinda tells me that he probably really won't even care that much, I mean who would want to work under their 30 something year old son when they are 70 and know a hell of a lot more about the game.

He won't actually answer to CLK. But that aside, I doubt you'll find many head coaches in FBS that would say they know defense/offense/special teams better than the coordinators they hire to do the job. The head coach is there to bring all the pieces together into a cohesive unit, not to know more about every little facet of the game. Your argument is a non-issue. If Monte comes here it isn't a downgrade. He hasn't been fired/let go by the Bucs, they'll obviously miss him.

More, the idea that you think CLK will somehow try to dominate his father is laughable.

If you actually read the post, he's reporting what he heard on a radio station in Atlanta -- not trying to make a prediction.

If the report is true, then good luck to Chavis. He deserves the opportunity, and if Les Miles keeps recruiting like he has, Chavis knows what to do with top-notch defensive linemen.

Although I can't say I will ever miss that Gelding of a defense he called a Mustang.

Better be more than satisfied, I'm sorry but letting Chavis go=1 big dumbass decision

We get your point.

I'll miss Chavis too, until 2010. If he's still playing the same brand of 3rd down defense, it will be really nice to see him again.

So, you're off to the LSU boards then?

Good Luck. Go Vols.

lsu fans better hope they get a turnover on first or second down. On third down, Chavis will drop the DBs 10 yards back, play a soft zone rush and hope the QB doesn't find an open receiver anywhere

I don't even know what to say to this. He might love his son enough to help him and this might be something he wants to do. I don't understand why you people are so negative.

I thought he would end up at Clemson. John Brice from Volquest thought so too. Clemson probably would be a little easier job than the SEC, but I guess it don't matter to Chavis since he is already use to it.

Are you completely blinded by your Fulmer/Chavis bromance?

You don't need to lump anyone else in with this guy. He's blinded by his love for Fulmer and Chavis. No one could rationally argue why having possibly the greatest defensive mind in the NFL as our DC is a bad thing.

Can you chew gum and walk at the same time? Maybe he is interested in helping his son get started on the right path toward a huge career as the head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers. Ever heard of them? He could be around his family and grandkids and move the program forward at the same time. What a crazy idea.

But we're paying him less.
