I'll probably get a lot of crap for this post but I don't think it would be crazy for Lanier to come off the bench. Maybe start Gainey instead and let Lanier play his role. It would force us to be less reliant on the 3, and Gainey is much more capable of getting to the basket. Not a terrible 3 point shooter, either.
I'm not necessarily say this needs to happen, just that it isn't so crazy of an idea.

I don’t think that it’s a crazy idea at all. The only bad part is the appearance of demoting Chaz. But the BB media relations staff ought to be able to put a positive spin on it.

Yeah, that could be done. Maybe Chaz even gets the start still but comes out a little quicker if he isn't hot/we don't jump out to a lead.
Thing is tho, they have to start valuing every offensive possession and watch the score early. Take the time out early if need be and switch things up. Barnes has a tendency to just let his guys play through when down 8-9 points. If it gets more than 4, there needs to be a timeout/adjustment.
We're not built to come from too far behind, so focusing on keeping the game as close as possible early can't be stressed enough. Jacking 3's ought to be a last resort. Only done when the shot clock gets low.

Yeah have thought the same, at least for games where we need to kind of find out defense.

But I think they have Chaz starting because they want him to get the offense going early...but that's also when teams are at their freshest as well. So having Gainey start and tiring down his defender a bit with cuts or drives might actually benefit Chaz when he gets in the game.
