Chinese spy balloon hovering over Montana

That’s what I said. Apparently you struggle with the purpose of quotation marks. I’m sitting next to my 80 year old father. He majored in Environmental Science at UT and his father worked at Oak Ridge for 9 years. He’s laughing at you. Thanks for this, he’s been a little grumpy since the Florida game the other night.

So your father who worked at some job at Oak Ridge at some point in the past says the US doesn't currently have the capability to detect radiation emitting from a giant balloon?

LOL, I'm sure you'd show the same level of restraint had it happened under the Trump administration.

That's almost as feeble as the Dark Brandon tripe.

I think you collect all intelligence you can from it and then take it down one way or another. The fact that it’s a CHINESE SPY anything over the mainland US and some people find a way to minimize this is beyond me. I guarantee that if the situation were reversed the same people would be criticizing our tactics and praising the Chinese or Russians for taking it down.

Nope I said “his father” worked at Oak Ridge. Apparently you’re no better at reading comprehension than you are at using quotes. I’m feeling better and better about you being PRETTY SURE we can detect it.

Imagine if a Repub was Prez. Stop the political BS

Just shoot it down. Too late now though as it is approaching pop centers.

I had no idea we had so many military and foreign policy experts here, apparently even armed with knowledge of classified information ! I'm honored to have you share this expertise with us commoners.

LOL. look in the mirror.

I've obviously been questioning the "shoot it down immediately" philosophy and my thoughts are: if they have some reason to believe that it isn't much of a threat as is, why risk killing somebody when you bring it down? My more recent thought is, "if it isn't doing much damage, why show them how we would react if it were a real threat?"

Oh, yeah! my dad's dad can kick your butt.

You think that thing floats forever? It will come down one way or another and Montana was the perfect op.
Stop defending stupid.

And my, well, two points are: 1. It's nothing new. 2. We are just as guilty as the Chinnies, indeed our example taught them to pull off such shenanigans. It's no different than when at one point, the USA told the DPRK, if you make the wrong move, North Korea will cease to exist. So NK, went all out to copy us by developing and deploying their own nukes. Guess what? All we did was provide them a fine example on being a a Duke Nukem bully. No it's no surprise the Chinnies have also taken chapter from our own book.
North Korea warns of 'all-out' nuclear weapons response to 'threats' from U.S., allies I'm not whatabouting as certain factions in the forum do. I'm expounding the truth of the adage that what sow is what you reap.
Other countries didn't need us to teach them how to act poorly, or nobly for that matter.
