Chinese spy balloon hovering over Montana

First was said to cross over the Aleutians and deeper water. This one was over sea ice. It's about recovery of materials while not dropping it on people. It has been consistent.

Recovery is a helluva lot easier on land than in water. There was more than ample time to take the first one down in a safe terrain. This by all appearances looks like they realize they shat the bed with the first one and are taking heat and bad press from it, thus this new approach.

It makes me think they shot down another one in Montana that the lady captured on video. They let the other one go so they could try to make the public think they didn’t mess up and look like idiots.0

watch starting at 13:50 for about a minute or so - tell me you have confidence this man has it under control.

W: how do you know?
B: I talked to him
W: you talked to him after this?
B: no - our people talk to their people; not after this but...

That interview was a PR disaster. Notice the WH communications director gave notice this week? 😂

A stray balloon from Hills anticipated but denied victory night.

Someone said it was a drone, which is a good guess, but then we get this tidbit.

"Mr Kirby said the object did not appear to have the manoeuvrable capability like the Chinese balloon and seemed to be "virtually at the whim of the wind".

High-altitude object shot down over Alaska, US says
I’m sure they flew a reconnaissance aircraft up to it and imaged the hell out of it before they blew it up. And 40k ft is inside the altitude of civilian airliners flying the great circle route over the pole. They know what they shot down but since there wasn’t 20,000 smart phone videos on Twitter this time they don’t have to say anything.

They sent a pilot up to investigate. The pilot reported it was unmanned, and over a good spot, and Biden said shoot it down. It's not very big. That's all we know.

That is not good enough. Was it a balloon, a UAV, or what.
It might have been Phileas Fogg.

See who gets this without cheating

The military needs to come out with some better confirmation before you have people saying we shot an alien spacecraft down.

If the US Military can shoot down ET with an AMRAAM or AIM-9X, then maybe they aren't so technologically sophisticated after all. Occams Razor.

That's not what the military has said. They said the debris field would be miles wide if they dropped it onto land from 50,000 ft and couldn't guarantee the safety of people and property, and that it would be easier to recover in shallow water, and that security threats could be mitigated along the flight path. Maybe you know something better, I don't.

Looks like they shot the Balloon itself and the Electrics look relatively intact. Not sure that fabric would be such a threat to the ground. But what do we know.
