No telling if we will even have one person signed next year.

THAT would be a disaster of epic proportions. At least they can have open tryouts, I guess. Looking bad.....bleak even. It was going to be thin pickings even with those guys. Guess I should have seen this coming.

Check back here in a few months. Ware will be recommitted and Jones will probably be on his way to a JUCO. Ware was just as sold on UT as he was on Pearl.

what makes you think that? he asked for his release the day our coach left

i think Justin Hunter, Brenden Downs, and Cam Clear may be suiting up for Basketball next year.

They should be let out of their LOI. If their goal is to potentially go pro, they shouldn't be forced to risk their future on a coach they've never met.

Plus, if Harris and Hopson go pro on top of their coach being fired, I wouldn't blame them for not coming here.

HC: N/A
G: Golden, Summitt
G: McRae, Mcbee
F: Tatum
F: Maymon, Woolridge
C: Hall

I wouldn't want to play with that team either.

nah - they shouldn't be let out and won't - why would we give these guys special privileges when we haven't to others in the past?

When has Mike Hamilton ever made a good decision?

Messing with peoples lives isn't cool. Especially when they probably made the decision to sign here at the age of 17.

It shouldn't be considered a special privilege. It's the ethical thing to do. Isn't that why everyone wanted Pearl fired, because he is unethical? Screwing up a kids life is even more unethical.

Both called Hamilton before sending in their LOI and asked if Pearl would be here to coach them. Hamilton told them that coach Pearl wasn't going anywhere. We have to release them because it is the right thing to do.

it's not screwing up the kids life - they both signed the LOI knowing Bruce Pearl was in potential trouble - and most of the kids are smart enough to sign the LOI's with the clause saying if the coach isn't there then it is null these days. Pretty much ever Calapari recruit does this now.

Other schools wouldn't let him out either - has nothing to do with Mike Hamilton - Dooley made this decision with several players too, not Hamilton.

OK? sign an LOI with the clause saying that if Bruce isn't retained then he's not bound to come here.

man, this is such a sad time for tennessee men's athletics in general. But mostly basketball of course. Atleast football is on the rise it seems.

They shouldn't be released until we have a new coach signed. If we bring in someone new and they still want out, then grant them a release. At least make them hang around til we find someone new though, they owe us that much. There is no such thing as a LOI to Bruce Pearl...

maybe because hambone straight up lied to these kids. turns out, that is the exact same thing he just fired the coach these kids were coming to play for

I have a feeling CJ will stay a Vol. Probably not anything, just my gut.

Crean was able to sign a class in 2008, we will sign a class this year.

And they went 6-25 and had four walk-ons play significant minutes. They have since gone 8-45 in the big 10. Probably not the best example.

OK? They can still include the clause - only a moron wouldn't with all the crap hanging over Bruce Pearl when they signed. And Hamilton had every intention of honoring his word when he told Jones and Ware that.
