i wouldnt release anyone. They are making a stupid decision based on emotion, and they arent even considering that we might hire someone better. If they waited til they knew who we were hiring and met with him, then id be ok with releasing them.

There is no rule saying they cant be recruited by the new coach. Not like allowing them to be released terminates all contact between both parties.

i dont care about that. I think the kid should be allowed to make the decision he wants to make. However, i think he should at least have to meet the coach and stuff first.

I agree with you, the kid should wait until the next coach is hired. However, making a stand like this as an institution puts a bad taste in the mouths of other big time recruits. ITs really not a battle worth fighting in the end.

And what did this kid base his initial decision to come to UT on - other than the promises made to him by one Bruce Pearl???? I cannot understand how you can advocate that this 18-19 year old should be held in bondage based upon a commitment that he made to a "father figure" who is no longer here. I agree wholeheartedly with Donkey - much much more damage done by witholding a release under circumstances like this.

Weak sauce...fyi we do take basketball seriously in the right side of the state...As for mr.tiger high, dude did you happen to see how the Vols schooled your tigers this year? A year in which we had so much off the court distractions...we still handed you all your asses.
