Chris Jones will officially ask out of his LOI on Tuesday

Good thing for us in the end.

Jones has real issues and you can see what type of player he will end up being on par with the likes of Ramar. Jones is better off going to a school that will let him take 25 shots per game and a coach willing to deal with the clown Jermaine Johnson & their camp badmouthing the coach to local recruits in Memphis.

He can enjoy himself at UAB.

Not sure if you are serious.

Ware isn't going to be going anywhere special if he gets out - Jones is a great talent.. he'll land somewhere decent.. but that's assuming they want to deal with his academic and personal issues he's caused this past year.

Per Melrose Head Coach Jermaine Johnson.

I knew this was coming once the Pearl controversy started. Now, that he's fired it was a given. We might as well kiss our recruiting class goodbye. Basketball in Vol land will be painful at least for a while.

BTW, any news on Hopson & Harris leaving? I bet they're next in the leaving UT phase. Tobias and Scotty both will probably go ahead and declare for the draft. If these two are gone and we lose both Jones & Ware we're gonna be pretty bad. Oh Well!

Can we pay Pat Summitt double and hope the games don't fall on the same day? There is our coach!

Do NOT release any of them. They chose the school. UT is bigger than them. Let them sit a year if they want to go play somewhere else. Sick and tired of schools creating monster divas in these college athletes.

If a coach is fired I feel like they should be given the choice to get out of there LOI's. The next couple seasons are gonna be rough regardless. If they don't wanna play for UT then I don't want them here. Good riddance.

Keep in mind that a lot of recruits sign with schools based mostly on the coach and style of play. This is fair for them to be allowed out of their LOI when a coach leaves for whatever reasons.

It shouldn't count against them for wanting to play with the coach they thought they were getting like some people are stating. I don't care about the caliber of recruit here either. It's very fair!

I with you on this one. They wanted to play for pearl and that was one of the reasons they signed with UT. Now that he is gone, they should be able to go wherever they want to.

If this was commonly done across the country - I'd maybe agree - but it isn't so he's stuck with his decision. We won't release them more than likely. People act like we are the only ones that do this and that the university is so awful for doing so. These 2 kids - more than anyone - had a real reason to hold off on signing the LOI (despite what Hamilton told them - common sense tells you there's still reason to doubt) - it wasn't like out of no where like some kids get blindsided with when their coaches either leave for another job or get fired.

Not saying your argument is wrong but how many players do u want on the team next year?

What? There are players all the time that want out of LOI when coaches leave their intended signing program. I will say that most of the top NCAA championship schools it doesn't work this way but a lot of others schools it does. UT isn't in the NCAA championship contending programs category though and neither are several other schools in which this happens.

I just think it's very fair for the recruits to be allowed out of their LOI in these situations. If they want out for other reasons then that's more debatable in my opinion.

First of all, just because they are asking out of the LOI doesn't mean it is going to happen. They aren't getting out of anything until they meet the new coach. I can promise that much.

I thought it was fairly obvious I was talking about actually letting recruits out of their LOI's - not recruits asking to be let out.

Man I would love to have all of them. I'm just being realistic for a minute. There is no for these guys to come play basketball for UT anymore. They were coming to play for bruce and now bruce is gone so its pretty much a done deal I would say.

You may be correct but if we let them out of their loi it makes it easier for them to walk. Couple that with the other 7 or 8 that you lose or likely to lose and you have trouble fielding a team. The intramural champs over there will be the practice squad. One positive thing is the incoming coach doesnt have to wait years to get "his" team in.

Let'em go because it's the right thing to do. Holding them to their LOI at this point would just be vindictive and more bad press for the school.

They signed to play with Bruce Pearl. It's just like enrolling at UT to major in biology or chemistry and then the school drops the curriculum. If the school doesn't offer what you want, you leave. The kids signed to come here for the education Pearl was offering, not some other guy. They don't even have student ID's made yet, I don't understand the mindset that UT owns them now.
