Petersen's kid had tumor on his brain and spine 13 years ago when the kid was 13 months old and Petersen was coaching at Oregon. All the treatment happened in Oregon and the kid is fine now.

his son had brain cancer they found when he was 3...
he's 10 and recovering and fine now...but Im sure he feels
loyal to them for the way they treated him and his family...and he can make 4-5 million at a big school for
5-10 years and have all the pressure in the world or make 3 million a year for 20 years and never worry about being fired...he's not leaving for anywhere...

If he made 3 million I would agree with you. I think he is paid 1.8 million(last figure I saw) a year at Boise. I think UCLA offered 2.6 or 2.8 a year. 4.25 I think has to get the man to listen to what Hart would have to say. We do have to remember that UT has never spent big money on a HC. Alot of rumors claim Gruden and 5-6 million is being discussed. We could very well be shopping on the cheap again as usual and looking to spend 2-2.5 million. If that is the case, people are going to have to get ready to be disappointed. JMO

Petersen is in the first year of a 5 year $12 million deal. He makes 2, 2.2, 2.4, 2.6. and 2.8 million.

UT needs to open up the pocket book and do whatever it takes to get this guy in Knoxville...He is the home run hire we need here...I have no doubt if the right price is reached We can grab the biggest rising star in college football...His offense would terrify SEC defenses as UGA found out last year...In 7 years he is 80-8 :eek:hmy:
He rebuffed offers from USC, UF and others time and time again, so money doesn't seem to be much of a factor.

He is not leaving Boise. He loves it there and has it made. Will never win a NC there but guess that's not everything.

Love the mans loyalty but damn 4-5 million has to be hard to turn down everytime...Not sure if he is THAT loyal or if he is waiting on the RIGHT move.

He'd be a great hire, but he seems content where he is.

I don't think he has been offered 4-5 million. Only thing I have seen is UCLA offered him around 2.8 million/year. He was already right at 2 million. Making a public offer in the 4's would at least let the country know the man will not be leaving Boise if he were to turn it down. I just don't feel a coach like CP turning you down with a huge offer on the table is a bad thing. It would at least show UT is looking hard and willing to spend the money for the best.

Agreed an offer in the mid 4's would go a long way to show the seriousness of this admin to right this ship

Kind of pathetic that this guy is not getting more attention here on VN.

Honestly, I think if we offeredd him Gruden money, he would come. And honestly, I think if we got him, we could be every bit as successful as any school in the SEC and would recoup his salary many times over. But its a risk and, let's face it, Hart and our boosters aren't going to take a high money risk. They would rather stay mediocre.

0% chance he leaves. Content with building and continuing one of the nation's best and most consistent programs in Boise.

Never say never. Unless you are his agent there is no way you know this. I think he entertains offers I just think people have low balled him. UCLa offered him so he does listen.

UCLA offered $4 mil per year which would've been a $1.5 mil upgrade to recruit and win in California, his home state. He never seriously considered it. I have a hard time believing he'd leave Boise for anything right now that isn't the USC or Texas jobs.

Don't rule out the Cal job. Played for and started his coaching career at Cal-Davis.
