Chris Walker wants to knock Tebow out!

The Vol fans who talk about Tebow not being able to throw are wrong. The dumb jump-pass aside, he had some lasers out there, especially a nice, precise throw against LSU on a slant.

Then UT fans say "But he had the luxury of defense keying on a run play." Of course he did, and he'll have that again as the starting QB. I do worry about durability for a running QB.

I'm sure he can throw, but that doesn't mean that he's going to make good decisions. I'll wait to judge that until we actually see him play a full game.

As for durability, he has proven that he's tough and he can take a hit. The question is, can he take those hits 4 quarters a week?

It's a different animal when you don't have at least 10 minutes to rest between hits.

Again you make some great points. You don't pass for 10,000 yards in HS if you can't throw. Does he need some work? Sure, but it's wishful thinking to imagine that Florida recruited and pinned its hopes on a QB without an arm. He's definitely not going to understand the passing offense as well as Chris Leak did right off the bat, but he throws the ball harder and has made great improvements on the quickness of his release since last year. What's more, as Arizona points out, he'll have the advantage of defenses having to respect the run.

I also agree that the durability will be an issue. Doing what Tebow did for us last year is all well and good when you have just 10 snaps a game, but when you're the starting QB you're entire repertoire can't be breaking 10 tackles to gain 10 yards. That's why I think it's so important that Tebow develop as a passer. I honestly think he can still be reasonably successful running the ball in the option scheme even when the defense tries to load the box, but obviously he won't last a full season with this strategy. It will be very important that he threaten defenses with his arm, too, even if it's just with quick, high-percentage passes to athletes who will try to make the yardage after the completion, and this was in fact a point of emphasis in the spring. Tebow worked a lot on short, high-percentage passes that require touch, and I think that'll serve him well while he's still adusting to the speed of SEC secondaries.

But that is the biggest question. Can Tebow be an effective passer? If not and he has to rely extensively on running the option then his durability could become a major issue.

Right. Chris Leak could throw the heck out of the ball, except his 3 or 4 bad decisions per game during his first 3 years caused a lot of losses against good teams. I question whether or not Tebow can check down to his second and third options (which was Crompton's flaw last year) or decide when to keep the ball on an option instead of pitching it.

It remains to be seen whether or not he can read defenses throughout a game and if he can truely manage a football game.

Yeah, and Peyton Manning couldn't beat Florida. What's your point? That doesn't mean they both can't be great QBs, and clearly everyone still thought Tebow was great in HS despite that loss.
I know yur not comparing Manning and Tebow here right?

Just wanted to let you all know that Tim is a very humble young man and devoted Christian. He is a true leader not just because of his performance on the field but his performance in life. He helps his parents on the mission field in the Philippines by working in an orphanage. Just like I would not judge Chris for one comment some of the posters on your board have no business judging someone you don't even know. By the way-that is not Tim's girlfriend in that pic. He wouldn't stoop to that level.

Exactly what level is he stooping to?

His personal life is none of your business.

I don't care about what Tebow does. I'm just asking how in the world would being with that girl in the picture would be a stoop down. Given that the girl isn't a family member.
