Cigar /Pipe Smoking thread

Do any of you guys have a preference on the size of cigar you smoke? I like either the robusto or the toro size. Through the week I can smoke a robusto, toro or a corona in about a hour and I can always come back later and smoke another.

A good hour to hour and thirty minute smoke is great after work.

I bought some unercrown with the blue and gold band. They are the maduro, medium to full flavor. I’m hoping it’s good, I haven’t tried one yet.

Usually, a petite corona, robusto, toro, and the occasional Churchill. Most often, a toro.

I like a Churchill on the weekend when I’m just sitting out on the porch talking it easy and I know I don’t have anything else to do that evening. I’ll have one of the larger ring gauges every once in a while. if I’m drinking some adult beverages, I have to have a smoke that will last a while. A good 2-3 hour smoke.

Ok, I’ve been doing some research on online cigar sells. I have some tips on some sellers and what they do the best. Cigars. Com have a great assortment of five pack and really good prices. Cigars international have the best specials deals and assorted 10- 12 packs., good prices. And, cigar page has the best deals on boxes. I also think luxury cigar club has a good deal as far as the kinds of cigars you get each month. The core box is a great deal for the 3 cigars you get and the palladium box is a bargain for types of cigars you get each month.

Guys, if you are ever in Halls, I buy my smokes at the smoke pit. They have a good range of cigars and pipe tobacco. They have a walk In humidor and they have a smoking lounge. Really good people makes it a A++ for buying experience. Give it a try if you’re evere in the area.

been there....good place & folks

depends....if having a smoke with friends/family at home or tailgating all day accompanied by proper beverages, then a Churchill or Presidente fits the bill.

If taking a short break during a motorcycle ride, then a Corona or petite Corona is likely.

Would be interested to hear your take on it. I have smoked a 5 pack of the Undercrown originals and they are really tasty. Very similar in taste profile IMO to Oliva V, though not quite as refined. Very chocolaty though and a tiny bit more pepper.

Looking forward to your review on the Maduro.

Most of my go tos are a robusto/toro size (so little uniformity in sizes today). Main thing is they are more like 1 hr smokes considering how they are packed and their draw, my puff frequency etc. If I know I am going to be awhile I can have a churchill or something with a larger gage.

Most dont appreciate how much more difficult it is to make a good cigar with a larger gage or with a longer vitola. The fat ones because the wrapper filler mix is more difficult to get right and the longer ones have a difficulty getting the draw (and thus the heat in the first 1/3) correct. Thats why you will tend to see most of the yearly top 25 in the 5-5.5" and 50-52 ring sizes. And also why you may see something win high marks for one vitola and not even make the top 25 for another even tho its the same tobacco.

I smoked a Rocky Patel disciple a few nights ago and I wasn’t very impressed. I’ve had some better, cheaper smokes in the same category. The biggest flavor notes were, leather, earthy and maybe a little citrus note, light on the pepper. It was really just a boring, meh cigar for me. If one was give to me I’d smoke it but I wouldn’t buy another one, unless I thought I totally missed on it, taste wise.

Has anyone here smoked one? And, did you have the same experience.

Smoking an Ashton right now. It's been in my humidor for 6 weeks. I keep a fresh dish of bourbon in my humidor just to add a little more flavor. IMG_20220708_171641_192.jpg
