Cigar /Pipe Smoking thread

I gotta say, I have no idea how this picture goes with any My Father cigar but to each their own :D

Would think that would be better with something light and grassy, like a smooth Connecticut or a nice go to Macanudo Cafe Hyde Park. I find the Macanudo also nice for a hard apple cider.

😆

I said I may have weird palate. You’re more than likely right on your thinking.

I have had 4 different my fathers cigars now and I’ve liked all of them. I still think the antillas is my favorite.

I think this year’s top vitola was the Judge but you really can’t go wrong with any My Father cigar. Don Pepin Garcia has a real talent. I have seen him say his focus is to create a Cuban flavor without Cuban leaves.

Gandalf and Tin Man, do you have some cigar suggestions for me? I know I’m still missing some good cigars.

If it will quit storming, I’m going to light this baby up. First time smoking this. I don’t know what to expect.

I will qualify my palate by admitting that should I have to choose just one cigar to smoke through the rest of my days, it would be a shade grown Chateau Fuentes.

A good solid churchill with a nice flavorm smooth smoke and medium strength. Not a top 10 cigar but not definitely not bad for an every day kind of thing or something to give to friends, who will not be disappointed. Only problem is for me, they often have a tight draw and may need a retouch or two with the flame. If you run a long toothpick down the center (like for a kebob) the draw is better and they smoke nicely IMO

Definitely a tight draw. Not unbearable. Toro size
It’s not something I would want to smoke all the time but it’s a good smoke, not great.

I got ran in the house. The lightning is getting bad again

eh, the Toro? think that would not be as good as the slimmer churchill. not quality enough filler IMO for a fat one. The ratings really used to like the belicoso before the wrapper changed tho so I dont know what has happened to them. Bottom line my opinion is with you, a quite good but not great smoke.

Dont know if its already been mentioned but another good line that pretty much all of them are great - La Aroma de Cuba. They are not quite as coco rich maybe as something like melanio or Carrillo's pledge but they are absolutely delicious IMO and they continue to rank every year - so quality hasnt gone down.

Smoking an Ashton right now. It's been in my humidor for 6 weeks. I keep a fresh dish of bourbon in my humidor just to add a little more flavor. View attachment 471105

@malinoisvol, I stopped by the smoke pit today and the Ashton is 28$.

They have quite a few of the

I think I may have a problem. I bought 8/9 more cigars today. I may need a intervention.

I must confess... I visited on there this past Saturday and bought 3. Those are SO good and have become a weakness of mine. However, I believe I will start buying them at Cigars.com.

I need to participate in a Smoke Pit event so I can start getting ginned up on cigars. I read every word that is posted in this thread. I am beginning to understand the language. I look up the cigars you all are posting about. Now I need to commit them to memory. Lol
Actually, my memory is this thread. I open this thread and show the guy at the Smoke Pit and he'll hook me up.

Dude, go in and talk to Rick. I went in with my son today and asked him to make some suggestions. I bet we talked for almost 2 hours. He turned me onto quite a few cigars that I hadn’t even considered. And, I asked him about some cigars Also. He is a knowledgeable guy and he gives good advice. Like the punch, fu man chu, inexpensive smoke but really good and interesting smoke. I don’t think I would’ve ever tried it if he hadn’t been so high on it.

I think in order to get a handle on it you should send me all the sticks you buy from now on. :p

But its easy to do. I can get right carried away at times on cigar bid.

The R&J reserve are a nice smooth smoke

How is that Maximus? I hear good things. Diamond Crown is normally just too expensive to justify over picking up a 1964 or 1926.

My son really liked it. He loves the Julius. I tried it and it has a good taste. I think it has all the flavors of a good maduro. But,I like to smoke a whole cigar before I make a judgment.

First time having this. Really nice smoke. I don’t know if this is the best Connecticut I’ve tried but it is very high on my list.

Just a real creamy sweet smoke. Nothing over bearing, almost perfect burn line. I’m definitely getting more of these. Had a hard time putting it down.

I’m not usually a Connecticut guy but Padron of course makes a good one. The Olivia and the Camacho is pretty good as well.
