Now this was truly tasty. I had this in the humi a bit and brought it out for the bday. God of fire indeed. Deeply packed but perfect draw. Leather, rich tobacco, many spices, very light pepper, some chocolate. One of those few super premium cigars that was worth the price.

It’s a hot afternoon, but the humidity is lower than it has been, and the fan is circulating the air around the screened porch. Time for an AF Don Carlos reserva and some Tennessee sippin’ whiskey on the rocks.

In 1955, Tennessee defeated Alab*** 20-0 in Birmingham. The Vols won the next three games. In 1959, B*** managed a 7-7 tie, only to lose to the Vols again in 1960, 7-20 in Knoxville. In 1961, an entire graduating class had never beaten Tennessee. The 1961 B*** team finally had their vengeance, besting the Vols 34-3 in Birmingham. Former Tennessee player and then Alab*** trainer, Jim Goostree gave B*** players cigars to celebrate the end of the streak. So, the ensuing “tradition” had its beginning in both Orange and crimson. Hopefully, we’ll all be lighting up this coming third Saturday in October. GBO!

Before anyone naysays Goostree, keep in mind that not every former Vol could have been employed by Tennessee, and given those Vols reputations, it’s understandable that even Alab*** would want to employ one.
