CJH just said..

Getting blown out by a team the quality of Ohio state doesn't rank anywhere near some of the losses we have taken. You can say we looked confused or not ready, but there are other losses that I can point to (2001 LSU) that were way more painful.

We definitely benefited from an easier schedule than most others in the SEC. I’m concerned about next year. We will have more areas of question than we did this year, but I will wait and see before I panic like so many others.
I am very concerned about our recruiting. 2022 was Hypes best team, and the stars were not his recruits.

You throw enough money at any 18 year old high school football player and they will come here. That was my point. That's where this is.

it doesn't mean you are going to win championships. It doesn't mean the kid is going to be worth a ****. It just means you can get the players you want. It is nothing different from what goes on in the rest of professional sports.
Yes, but the issue is, we already throw the 2nd most amount of money at players in NCAA football, so instead of it being about money, maybe it’s the fact that we have some crappy coaches that don’t need to be here and need to be replaced! Because if we are that far out talented by OSU but not that far behind in NIL payments there is a disconnect there that needs to be taken care of. Bad player evals and no development is what I am seeing! We have a 5 star WR that was ranked right there with the others and he barely saw the field and even when he did there wasn’t much there to show. Cam and Wingo both had pretty good seasons although not to what Williams and Smith did, but ours never showed up even though our WR room is average at best. So we just aren’t spending our money correctly!

Except that OSU has many many consecutive top five recruiting classes while we have barely been hovering outside the top 10.
Stacking classes over time to build depth is maybe more important than how much a team spends in the current year.
Yes, but they have also lost a lot of those players also that weren’t getting playing time. Thats what’s happening with every team that has recruited amazing like Bama through the years, these players aren’t wanting to sit and wait their turn. The thing is they have paid for the correct players and we haven’t. So they have lost a ton of their recruiting classes that were top ranked, but they have kept the studs on those to be really top heavy. But make no mistake, they had a patchwork OL the other night and still made our DL look like trash!

two quick points

1) NIL money has to have conditions and performance terms . This is being implemented. Players planning to portal and giving half ass performance need to be processed .
2) Willie Martinez has to go . OU fired him during the Bob stoops days. He has ro be cut loose .
Stoops knew defense too….he knew it very well

I thought our DBs and LBs were his recruits? They got exposed against OSU, but if they continue to get better, we should be pretty good there.

I agree along the lines of scrimmage, WR and perhaps RB, but to get fewer sacks this year with so many seniors, and to allow more than 10 tackles behind the line of scrimmage also multiple times this year (also with a slew of seniors) says a lot. It makes it hard on the backfield without pressure, and no team can run or pass against that type of protection.

What’s worse is that we don’t have a Mays or a Sampson returning. We are targeting some linemen, but that can be hit or miss.

Also a lot of drops this year. So, it’s not all on the OL.

I’m not going to panic, but I will say as of now… doesn’t look good.

I didn’t travel 9 hours to watch those games and nothing was on the line. Bowl games are meaningless (to me)
You felt entitled based on logistics to receive more. Crap shoot when you leave it to teenagers/young adults playing a game for your entertainment. Players invested more than your 9 hour drive.

Time for everyone to catch their breath. One loss to a clearly superior opponent should not be the basis for anything other than a desire to improve where we are clearly deficient. Looking at the season overall is also fine, but think how many other programs would love to have been where we were. With NIL, the transfer portal and players sitting out post season games, how would any of us like to have our jobs evaluated with those types of uncontrollable variables?

If that is true then he needs to do something about it. It starts with him.

What part of TONS did you not understand??? He did not say a little existed. Character has not been an issue with these players, especially compared to a segment of our cheap shotting fanbase.

Root cause analysis will take a few days. Give OSU some respect for EXECUTING at a level not seen this season and our guys did not respond well to the second gut punch in the second half. Demoralization can be tough when totally unexpected.

I think even Dooley had better tackles.. Campbell and Heard are awful..
DD had an outstanding offense, including several OL who made it to the NFL.

DD’s downfall was he hired Sal Sunsori (sp) as DC, tried to install a 3/4 with no talent to run it, worst defense I have seen in 50 years.

If DD just had a top 50 defense, he buys himself another 2 years possibly.
