CJH just said..

Strongly, very very strongly disagree. I've worked with many people who aren't committed or invested in their career/job; but show up for the paycheck.
OK fair point. I wonder how many on this team are only showing up for the coin. Probably not as many as we think.

Credit to Ryan Day and Chip Kelly for the repeated swing passes. We haven't seen that much of that this year. It kept Will Howard mostly in low risk throws and got his rbs in space. It also multiple times meant Pearce had to go wide in the flats to make the stops. Ohio State did the opposite of what they did against Michigan. They learned the lesson. What I want Heupel to answer is the same things Ohio state did in the first half they did in the second. What would he say the second half adjustments were?

Arkansas killed us with that dink and dunk stuff. We refuse to cover the flats for whatever reason.

Don't know what the problems are, but a couple of things to remember.

1) Where this program was just a few years ago. We should be thankful for the progress made. Not content to stay here, but much better than where we were.

2) Games like this, unfortunately, help show how far the gap is to winning it all. JH can use it as a motivator to send people packing - players and coaches. This loss, IMO, is better long term for the program than winning a non-CFB bowl game.

3) JH has his work cut out for him in determining best how to move this program to the next level of excellence. But, so does every other coach who isn't there yet. The ones who are on top have to figure out a new way to stay there. These are different times.

Yes very much improved and that is good, but you can’t stand Pat, have to keep getting better and that is what we all hope to see.

Not sure about that. That last night was a prime time game in front of millions of potential recruits and getting demolished isn’t a good look even if it’s the playoffs!

We shall see. He never fired a soul down in Florida and his teams got worse each year. He has also not fired anyone while at UT. I hope he isn’t Fulmer 2.0 and refuses to cut the wheat from the chaff. Will be his downfall if he can’t get rid of those underperforming coaches and I doubt he will do so!

$$$ fixes that.
Again, does no one know or understand? We paid the 2nd most NIL in the country as a team behind only OSU(about 4 million difference) yet our results are HIGHLY different! Get rid of the crappy coaches we have and bring in some studs, either that be stud recruiters or stud developers but at this point it doesn’t seem like we have really either except Garner.

Except that OSU has many many consecutive top five recruiting classes while we have barely been hovering outside the top 10.
Stacking classes over time to build depth is maybe more important than how much a team spends in the current year.

You throw enough money at any 18 year old high school football player and they will come here. That was my point. That's where this is.

it doesn't mean you are going to win championships. It doesn't mean the kid is going to be worth a ****. It just means you can get the players you want. It is nothing different from what goes on in the rest of professional sports.

So it was just OSU having their best performance of the season and our level of play/resistance had no bearing on the.outcome? Funny how that happens. Beck comes out of his funk to torch us was just one of those things, too? At some point, when you get whipped, you do need to look in the mirror.
Don’t get me wrong, we didn’t play great. All I’m saying is they were playing on a level last night that NO team would have been able to hang with. Did our play contribute? Sure, but they were going to beat anyone playing like that.

Name a more disappointing performance

when the team quit on Dooley entirely and threw (yes, threw) a game to a really bad Kentucky team who was starting a WR at QB in order to avoid getting to 6-6 and bowl eligible so they wouldn't have to do another month of practice. UK 10, UT 7, Nov 26 2011. we hadn't lost to Kentucky since 1984. you must be new here.

Not impossible, but need to do better in the portal. Some mixed thoughts but thinking Nico was a miss as well. He’s talented but not elite. And he got elite compensation
We have no shot vs Ga, Texas, OSU, Oregon. The talent gap is a 2 to 3 touchdown loss to those teams. Hopefully we fix it and get better players or just come to accept our status. Theirs always going to be like 4-5 teams that pay the money and get the players. Until we do then expect to get drubbed in the playoffs . A lot of fans were delusional and thought just because we played in the SEC and really beat nobody of any substance that we were at that level , we’re NOT even close.
Tenn has the 2nd highest NIL collective in the country. Money was not the cause last night, nor Ark, nor any game this season. Poor talent assessment and poor coaching of talent.

Let's finally be real here. OSU had a lot to do with how we played last night. They were faster, more talented, better coached and way more motivated than we were.
This is my take too. No one could beat the OSU team that showed up last night. They have the most talent of any team and last night they played to save their coach. It was their best game by far all season. They brought their A game and even if we had we weren't beating them.

We were man handled and the moment Sampson went down I knew we were screwed. It was the perfect storm and if OSU continues to play like last night they will win the NC. No one is beating the team we saw last night

They were in our players faces before the ball was kicked. I was worried before kickoff and for good reason. We simply didnt have the horses to compete against them if they played their A game. This loss sucks but I cant be too pissed off because no one if beating them if they continue to play like they are.

Well they better start spending it and get better talent and coaches. Money changes teams quickly.

I love my Vols but embarrassed tonight. We had at least 30k fans @ the Shoe, the most ever for an away team. Ohio St fans were shocked and ticked off that their stadium was covered in orange, the exception being student section behind one of end zones.

Their fans heckled us most of the night and I’m 53 yrs old. I’ve never seen so many inebriated a$$ holes in my life.

But we played like crap and looked lost. The D didn’t show any heart nor enthusiasm. The fans did their part. I dropped about $1500 on lodging, gas, tickets and food. Frustrating. Go Vols!
Try to forgive them, it’s all they have. It is Ohio after all

Nothing was on the line and I didn’t drive 10 hours to see that game with 30,000 friends. It’s not even close. Yeah I’m totally new here

There’s no doubt they were better. I just wonder what we were trying to do on offense and how did we end up with LBs covering the best WR in the country on multiple occasions
