He's taken many luxury vacations with a GOP mega-doner and other top officials from conservative organizations/interest groups and corporations have
been on some/many of those trips. He's a unethical, corrupt, a grifter---period. He's lied on financial disclosure documents for years.

It couldn't be more clear that Thomas was taking gratuities for himself and family. Thomas is amending his filings to reflect it. Maybe you can call that evidence. Whether it's illegal or not I don't care. IMO he shouldn't have done it. And shame on you for injecting race into this. Anyway, quit being a nuisance.

This is my first post in this thread. We've seen it all before. There was no sense in making a comment in a thread that is a failed reach.

The left/progressives/leo-liberals/American Marxists are attempting to discredit the court by gaslighting. This is another example of fomenting something against conservative justices yet they are not held accountable. Many American Marxists that stir this up should be treated like the Salem witchcraft trials.

They can't pack the court or turn it into a legislative wing for the Democrat party so they use intimidation and harassment tactics. The left needs to be taken back to the days of the Wild West. Instead they use terrorist style tactics and are protected by the law. While state media runs cover for them to use tyrannical methods. They've infiltrated every bureaucracy with nutcases. Admittedly it was a brilliant and sinister scheme if you're wicked. Satan is probably proud.

Regardless of Thomas, do you believe the Supreme court judges should be subject to the same ethics rules as all other federal judges?

just to avoid a bunch of people accusing me of something I didn't say: I don't think he should be removed, because he apparently didnt break any rules (it looks like few, if any apply to SCOTUS); but I do think the rules should apply to him and the rest of the court.

All federal judges, except for the Supreme court, are subject to various ethics and conduct rules. I feel the Supreme court should be subject to the same rules as all the other federal judges. As I understand it, Thomas would have been required to disclose some of the items he received if he were an appellate or district court judge.

The new regulations quietly went into effect on March 14 and clarify that the justices — and all federal judges — must disclose gifts and free stays at commercial properties, or when gifts of hospitality are being reimbursed by a third party who is not the person providing it.

That was recently put in place, but there is still no formal code of judicial conduct for the supreme court, unlike the rest of the federal judges. Do you think they should all be subject to the same rules?

I've read posts that were a bit more, er, astute than this. I think the basic point about Clarence Thomas is that he's corrupt--fact--and most people of sound mind would agree that it's really not encouraging or desirable to have corrupt justices on the HIGHEST and most important court in America. Corrupt people should always be exposed--no matter their politics, Democrat or Republican, liberal or conservative. The rest of your post is gibberish, I'm afraid.

Did RBG's husband make money from firms that had business before the Supreme Court? I thought he was only a successful tax attorney? Mr. Roberts' wife has been paid millions in commissions by law firms that have had cases before SCOTUS. That could present conflicts of interest.

Ultimately, Supreme Court justices--more than anybody--should be above reproach and assiduously avoid ANY conflicts of interest or anything that creates the appearance of a conflict of interest. Our Supreme Court should have the highest and toughest ethical standards. Instead, the Supreme Court basically has had almost no ethical standards--disgraceful--and the conservatives on the court seems to arrogantly think they can do whatever they please/ Clearly, for Clarence Thomas and maybe others, it's the perfect job for grifting: you accept luxury trips, gifts, ignore reporting requirement that would prove embarrassing. The only thing more disgraceful than Thomas--and now we see Gorsuch secretly sold a house a big profit to an individual with business before the court---is John Roberts, who's done nothing to reign in these corrupt freeloaders. We've also seen how three conservatives on the court all lied during their confirmation hearings about their views on Roe V. Wade.
