Clarence Thomas in Hot Water (Alito too!)

Did RBG's husband make money from firms that had business before the Supreme Court? I thought he was only a successful tax attorney? Mr. Roberts' wife has been paid millions in commissions by law firms that have had cases before SCOTUS. That could present conflicts of interest.

Ultimately, Supreme Court justices--more than anybody--should be above reproach and assiduously avoid ANY conflicts of interest or anything that creates the appearance of a conflict of interest. Our Supreme Court should have the highest and toughest ethical standards. Instead, the Supreme Court basically has had almost no ethical standards--disgraceful--and the conservatives on the court seems to arrogantly think they can do whatever they please/ Clearly, for Clarence Thomas and maybe others, it's the perfect job for grifting: you accept luxury trips, gifts, ignore reporting requirement that would prove embarrassing. The only thing more disgraceful than Thomas--and now we see Gorsuch secretly sold a house a big profit to an individual with business before the court---is John Roberts, who's done nothing to reign in these corrupt freeloaders. We've also seen how three conservatives on the court all lied during their confirmation hearings about their views on Roe V. Wade.

Anti woman I see. She should stay at home, barefoot and fixin samiches huh?

The Senate Dems apparently do not understand the concept of co equal branches of government. The Senate has no more right to prescribe ethics standards for the courts than the SCOTUS would have in unilaterally imposing congressional term limits

Every lawyer on here be like:

SCOTUS is a bunch of grifters--plain and simple--especially, by all accounts, the conservatives. Scalia took 84 free hunting trips--using intermediaries to solicit "invitations" for him, and often brought NRA and other right-wing special-interest hacks along with him. It's corruption--plain and simple. It's scandalous. This is the institution that should have the highest ethical standards, and instead it has the weakest. And they're totally arrogant about it. Thomas should resign--an absolutely corrupt joke of a justice.

Cruz's comment is a laugh. He's just trying to divert attention from the actual problem. SCOTUS is under assault because it deserves to be: we've witnessed over the last few years how corrupt and politicized some of its members are. And three of the current conservatives on the court blatantly lied about their position on Roe v. Wade during their confirmation hearings---fact.

What about Kagan refusing to recuse herself from the Obamacare decision, even though she worked on the legislation?

OK, whataboutism aside.

I don’t think Supreme Court justices should be for sale, period. It’s hard to be impartial when you are accepting gifts big enough to be life-changing.

I guess I’m too naive.

I don't see the issue with riding in Harlan Crowe's yacht and deciding on whether Biden had the power to forgive student loans or whether Roe v Wade should be overturned

ACLU paid for trips too Spain for Sotomayor, have they had cases in front of the SC? Did you libs call for her to recuse herself?

I don’t think anybody disagrees with this, the disagreement is over whether anything was actually for sale or sold.
