It’s fairly straightforward as to why BB gets so much attention for his racism.I don't know BB's history with Clarence Thomas, and I don't think you'd call M. Obama a gorilla or tyranny, but it's a fairly common thing on the forum that doesn't get much attention, while there does seem to be concern over BB's comment.
It's an ugly thing to say ... and it probably isn't fair when said about Clarence Thomas ... but the connotation isn't racist. It's basically calling a black person a "sellout" or a "traitor."And yet you’re still trying to excuse it -
Lord have mercyIt's an ugly thing to say ... and it probably isn't fair when said about Clarence Thomas ... but the connotation isn't racist. It's basically calling a black person a "sellout" or a "traitor."
Most of the time when a black person is being called an "Uncle Tom," it is a fellow black person who is saying it.
Jalen Rose once called black basketball players, who got to Duke, such as Grant Hill, "Uncle Tom's."
But I wasn’t even alluding to you calling Clarence Thomas an “Uncle T@m”.I've never said anything about Clarence Thomas, which hasn't also been said by an African-American in Congress.
I can think of at least 5 that wouldn’t bat an eye coming into this thread, right now, and saying something offensive and ugly about Michelle Obama.I'm not a fan of some of BB's comments, as I've said. I'm just curious why Big Mikers seem to skate.
Typically, they pull their BS, say "liberals are the real racists," and nobody calls them.I can think of at least 5 that wouldn’t bat an eye coming into this thread, right now, and saying something offensive and ugly about Michelle Obama.
I’m sure you can too.
None of those guys try and represent themselves as some paragon of anti-racism.
Doesn’t make it right. Doesn’t mean they should skate.
Racism comes in all forms. From stupid comments and stereotypes to people not thinking the way they should according to the racist. That's true, but I see little oushback to Big Mike comments on VN.
Maybe true, but that doesn't change the fact that few on VN care to comment negatively on Big Mike comments but are quick to claim "but the dems say this" comments when they try to call out a liberal.Racism comes in all forms. From stupid comments and stereotypes to people not thinking the way they should according to the racist.
There’s a lot of the thought police racist among the Democrats where the stereotype comment types tend to be republican.
Lol. He has a long history of making racist and ugly comments about Clarence & Ginni Thomas. That's true, but I see little pushback to Big Mike comments on VN.
Edit: but bad mouth Ginni Thomas and its 'on.
I don't spend a lot of time cataloging BB's posts. I think he can be a jerk and posters jump on it while also thinking the regulars can intentionally ignore the big Mike BS.Lol. He has a long history of making racist and ugly comments about Clarence & Ginni Thomas.
We’re in a thread about Clarence Thomas.
And you’re a smart guy, I think you know what was going on.
Republicans like to believe this, but they are the party of homogeneity for a reason. Their ideology has very little appeal to anyone who isn't Caucasian, Christian and heterosexual ... and that's how they like it.Racism knows no political affiliation.
There are just as many democrats that are racist as there are republicans. Most of them think they’re not the racist.
I think “cataloging” is a bit much.I don't spend a lot of time cataloging BB's posts. I think he can be a jerk and posters jump on it while also thinking the regulars can intentionally ignore the big Mike BS.
I mentioned something similar to this, the other day.I don't spend a lot of time cataloging BB's posts. I think he can be a jerk and posters jump on it while also thinking the regulars can intentionally ignore the big Mike BS.
Yes, you did ask why BB was getting so much attention for his racist remarks while others didn’t.I mentioned something similar to this, the other day.
I think there are two additional elements:
1) people avoiding “unnecessary” beef with people who share many of their beliefs and who will back them up and support them when they need affirmation.
2) most of us just don’t expect better from some people. Nobody is shocked by those people and most of them are immature edge lords just hoping to get a reaction.
