Fair point. I think somewhat overlaps with “expecting better” but not quite the same thing and probably a better explanation.

It’s a little relevant that you couldn’t remember what your post said.
It’s a bit more relevant that you’d double and triple down something that stupid rather than admit you were wrong and back off.

Sure….let’s recap…the left gets covered by the media. I said someone from the left said Hitler “did some good things “ and nobody freaked out because it wasn’t covered by the press. You asked who, I said “exactly “ you don’t know because it wasn’t covered. You then did exactly what a tribal hack from the left would do. You post proof that Trump said it. Because that’s what comes up on google. In fact you can’t find that the political figure from the left that said the exact same thing unless you google their name in association with it…and the only thing that shows up is an article claiming context should be considered.

I get that you’re embarrassed that you stepped into that the way you did.

I think for people that have marginalized themselves that much, it’s probably not necessary or beneficial to call them out. It doesn’t have any effect on their behavior, there’s nothing we can do about their presence, so it’s just virtue signaling. I don’t know that everybody here needs to signal that they’re not racist all the time. (Cc: @clarksvol00 )

It’s the same thing with right and wrong, correct and incorrect. There’s no independent arbitrator on this forum. Nobody to come in and say “this poster is objectively right, this fact objectively incorrect.” In my opinion, you have to decide what’s true, be willing to change your mind or admit your mistake when wrong, and judge other people’s credibility according to their willingness or unwillingness to do the same. Personally, I enjoy antagonizing people who won’t admit they are wrong and there is some value in that, sometimes (I laughed my ass off at some of the three ring binder stuff), but if everybody acted like me all the time, or if even just a few people always went after everybody who got stuff wrong until they conceded, the place would be somewhat intolerable. At least that’s the conclusion I came to the other day.

It’s a message board. Our conversation is still there, as far as I know, and it speaks for itself. But your need to try to rewrite it is noted.

The bluff to try to save face failed when your waterboy scoured the Internet and came back with only a failed congressional primary candidate, who didn’t even say what you claimed. The only notable people who have said anything like that recently both run around in MAGA hats. I know it and you know it.
