Coach Cut just ran thru Cincy...

LMAO at the folks trying to make this game some kind of bench mark / milestone .

I watched this game to check on the offense , that we might see , next year . It seemed to me to be very close to what we ran last year . Just a little more run oriented .

Will you be laughing next year when you realize that this offense won't be run against teams like Duke, Toledo or Syracuse? I'm glad you feel so smart now in the face of all these stupid people, as, no doubt, this will soon translate into victories in the SEC. Surely, you can't be wrong with coaches who gave up close to 600 yards to Duke, got beat by Toledo and did a worse job than his predecessor in not making a BCS game. It must be tough when all these stupid people bring up legit concerns.

How many yards did Sumlin's teams give up against their pathetic competition at Houston? Should AtM fans care?

I can guarantee you they never had the #12 scoring defense in the NCAA, as Cincinnati is. I can guarantee you they never held the Holgorson/Geno Smith led WVU team to 17 offensive points the last time they played them, as Cincinnati did.

They had GA's and student volunteers helping coach the team tonight. Anyone trying to derive anything from tonight's game, positively or negatively, is too dumb to engage, let alone insult.

Yep , the Dline coach is supposed to replace the DC , OC and the HC . Yes we all understand the hate . LMAO ROFL at pratt , bpv , and the unimain .

Uncontrollable laughter while rolling on the floor especially reading a message board is a good indicator you are not a stable person. Put your special needs helmet on and eat some cereal.:good!:

Still waiting on that list of the 29 D-1 signees from Prattville this year. :birgits_giggle:

WOW just read through this thread. Is there this much stupid on the pay sites or does a few bucks a month weed it out? Absolutely incredible

Stupid little gifs, blind sunshine pumping, whatever smug commentary or points you think you are making, it all comes down to the fact that you all are willing to accept mediocrity in exchange for your quiet acquiescence of people in the AD to get paid good money to underperfrorm at their jobs.

And our new DC like a boss!

That team's coaching staff is primarily at the UT. They're playing with hasty replacement staff. They have been through a mess losing their coach just before a bowl game, practice routine, sense of rhythm and readiness is all mucked up. the miracle is that team went out there and played as well as they did. And Prattling, ole pal, Cincy ran through Cut's defense as well.

We lost our coach too but hastily made HC Haney was smart. He let his players just play against a team they could afford to mostly call their own plays and make it sort of a backyard game. It was players versus players and not the chess match games often are. My advice asked for or not, don't gloat, it has a nasty way of making you choke.

Here is the question that anyone hyperventilating needs to ask themselves: does a coaching staff matter, or not?

If it doesn't, this game should scare us, but we should have kept Dooley and Sal to avoid the buyout. Half time adjustments? They dont matter because it is a system and players, not motivation, inspiration and constant adjustment.

If coaching does matter, we actually should prefer that Cincy gets beat like a drum. That suggests that Jones and his staff could coach a ball game, motivate, and make adjustments to beat a team.

EDIT: to be clear, as someone else mentioned, the outcome of this game is irrelevant to the future of Tennessee football.

you must work for a Dook grad :)

I have hated Duke ever since Spurrier was there, and beat us. Wonder how different things would have been if he doesn't win that game? Maybe UF would have hired someone else? That would have probably altered the course of history in a big way.

Being a coach, I know players take up the characteristics of their coach. Last night, I watched the Belk bowl game to see if I could detect some trends of a Butch Jones coached team. I know Butch was not there, but make no mistake, that was his team playing last night. Here are some of my impressions on Cincy last night that I think Butch will bring to Tennessee in the future:
1. Discipline. No turnovers, and the only time it seemed that players were out of position was on special teams, and that was understandable considering a patched coaching staff.
2. Swagger. Cincy played through a tough start and expected to win.
3. A "Balanced Spread" with a mobile QB. Vertical in the passing game, and toughness in the run game with a QB who can move the pocket and gain yards when the pocket breaks down.
4. Toughness. They played without a full staff, got behind, and had to figure out a way to win.
5. Big Plays. We made very few under Dooley. Cincy made the big plays.
6. Good Players. If Jones can bring those players to Cincy, imagine what he can bring to Knoxville?
7. Bigger, faster, stronger. I thought Cincy had the advantage on those important areas over Duke. He will bring the same thing to Tennessee.
8. "Just win baby". 4 conference titles in six years, 10 plus win season's. The bottom line at Tennessee is win football games. He has done just that everywhere he has coached.
Butch is now our coach, and even though he wasn't my first choice, or the "homerun" hire we anticipated, we got a very good college football coach who wants to be at Tennessee- and I for one, am glad he is our coach!

I can't remember a single time in the past few years where Tennessee got themselves in trouble early and was able to pull off a meaningful win. In fact it seemed that they would do the opposite..have the lead on a good team and then dig their own graves in the second half.

I appreciate your perspective, but I a priori took the perspective that cincy's performance last night has no prognostic value for CBJ's tenure at UT. I'm glad I did b/c what I saw was the more talented team struggle to beat a 6-6 Duke team.
