Coach Franklin Please explain the love for this guy

Pretty simple, he took a cometely irrelevant, nothing program and made it semi-relevant. If he was smart, he'd patch his bags right now and cash in on it.

Vandy to the Compass Bowl with an 8-4 record. Their fans are *****ing about a snub job. If they don't pack out Birmingham, then they should be able to take an introspective look and realize that their fanbasw is the reason no big bowls want them and why CJF will ultimately leave.

Vandy is no better or worse than they were under Bobby. The difference has been a very down SEC east, and luck in the schedule vs the west.

The best team Vandy has fielded in the past 25 years plus was under Bobby Johnson. The landscape of the conference was different. Franklin is either smart enough to know this and jump ship or stupid enough to believe his own hype, we'll find out soon.

Where's he going to go? Doesn't look like anyone is knocking on his door for interviews.

I still find it rather funny how some folks make fun of Vandy...while Vandy has kicked our ass the last 2 years...and took us down to the wire the year before that...

Ignorance is bliss, I guess (insert how FABULOUS our upcoming recruiting class is *@ this point* HERE)

smdh

So, winning in the last seconds is now an ass kicking? Yes, we're truly sodh at that ignorant statement.

John Clayton just mentioned franklin as a candidate for the Redskins job. Had to rewind to be sure I heard him right. I would almost like to see him get job just to see him fail.

His agent is good at getting his name tied to some of these jobs, that all. I highly doubt he is a candidate for any of them.

I said the same thing. One thing is obvious though, he is trying to catch the first thing smoking out of Nashville.

That's what I'm thinking too. His agent has floated his name for every open position so far. They're just waiting for the first offer and they're gone.

I believe he has won 60% of his games as head coach. His best finish is 4th in the SEC East. He's lost at least 4 games a year. As OC at Maryland he had one good year out of three.

So WHY would anyone trying to win a championship be interested in this guy? I just don't understand the love for this guy.

He has a winning record at Vandy and a winning record against the Vols. As far as I'm concerned he should start posing for his statue now!

Franklin's a great coach, but he didn't recruit many of the starters.

Like I've said before, he walked into a better situation than most will admit.

He walked into a losing situation and came out a winner! In the 3 seasons before he got there Vandy went 11-26, since he arrived 23-15!

This!!!!!! He come in at the time! The east has been pitiful the last few years! Not gonna stay that way much longer! And he will get exposed.

He is a good coach that knows how to get his players to win close games amd recruits really well (for Vandy).

That said, Vandy's turn around already started under Bobby Johnson. They had one blip (return to normalcy) under an interim HC then Franklin put them back on track. It's hard to say how impressive these winning season are though. I think he has only beaten 2 teams with .500 or better records in 3 years.

I'm a Vandy fan and liked Johnson. That being said Johnson only managed 1 winning season out of 9. He was 1-8 vs UT and 0-2 vs MTSU. Johnson couldn't win with his recruits but Franklin turned them into winners!

If a 27-21 OT win is by some Vols fans standards. Dooley was proud as hell of that win!

He was fired because his idea of success was more in line with Vandy standards, we demand more than scraping out wins against horrid and mediocre opponents.

He would have won the last few years!

Yet, UT didn't make a DVD or print shirts after beating pathetic Vandy. It's pretty standard procedure and will be once again when Butch gets the roster back to its natural state.

And this is the difference between Vanderbilt and Tennessee.

Vandy fans want to erect statues for Franklin, rename their "stadium" after him, etc. because they've achieved the soaring heights of the BBVA Compass Bowl.

Vandy fans are very happy where the program is now. UT has been bad for a while. Yet Vols fans have this arrogance and entitlement that they should be a top 5 program every year. The SEC is to tough now for that to be the case. They are a long way off from being LSU much less Alabama.

Actually, we're about 3 recruiting classes away from being a top 10 team.

No team is ever more than 4 years away from being dominant, provided they recruit well enough. Auburn is proof of that. As is Bama's ascent under Saban.

60% is great. You'll find very few coaches in the 70s.

Hey, if I were Dooley I would be proud as hell of that win too! I mean, that constituted a "turn around" in his mind. So glad that guy is gone.
