Coach Jones to speak before Saban

Is it hurting? If so, how? Not everything has to either help or hurt. It can do neither.

Anything that makes more obstacle for Butch Jones hurts him. Anything that can possibly can take away much needed money from the university hurts.

Explain the "obstacle" that Saban speaking at a CoC event in an area where he isn't recruiting anyone puts in front of Jones.

And Saban's appearance isn't deprive UT of money. UA isn't getting anything for Saban's time.

As far as we can tell, your whole purpose in life is to post on a rival's message board, defending any slight to good old Alabama and making sure Tennessee fans know their place. You don't appear to be here for discussion. You appear to be here to talk down to us. And it looks like at least a couple of mods are sick of it.

If you're any kind of a writer then you understand perfectly well the tone that comes across in your posts. If you want to keep posting here, you're going to need to change that tone. Your choice.

I am not talking down to UT fans in general. And I'm not talking down to rockytophigh, et al because they are UT fans. They could be fans of any team, I'd be saying the same thing.

If I haven't made that clear, I apologize. But I'm in no way knocking anyone simply because they are a Vol. There are way too many intelligent and thoughtful posters on here for me to lay out blanket statements.

With this kind of sentence....you sir, are most definitely qualified to write for bama.

I don't think UA's football program is hurting for exposure to the point that a thousand seat venue is critical in getting our name out there.

Then you're clueless about why all coaches do these rubber chicken speeches from time to time. There's always a recruiting, branding, alumni relations or fund raising angle to these things. I spent about 5 years dealing with coaches and ADs organizing these things.

You know as well as I do the Athens COC could have gotten many people to sell 1000 tickets. Admit that.

I'm not sure that many of the people you named could have sold out the event. I'm sure there are some who could.

But if the '98 Vols could barely get over 25% capacity, then maybe it's not as easy as you and I might think it is.

did you even read the article I posed? it is not just a 1000 seat venue....it's newsapapers...billboards, etc. Now I want you to admit to me the Athens COC could have simply hired someone else to sell it's 1000 tickets...and I'd like you to admit it now.

Oh, I'm sure that this gives Bama boosters living in East TN a little rub. I'm with you there.

I feel good. I figue that's as close as I'll probably get to an admission.

How long was Fulmer coach? How many times did he tour the state? (I can tell you I worked no less than 5 events in Nashville alone and that's nowhere close to the total). It's like living in St. Louis....no one will rush out to see the Budweiser horses....but you bring them to (anywhere USA) and they draw a crowd. Surely you're not this dense?

Good point. It was advertised all over the internet and twitter. I can't count how many emails I received about it.

I see the point you are trying to make. But that's like saying the Rolling Stones should never come to Boston, because there are a ton of Aerosmith fans in Boston and they might get upset.

As I said, tone is everything. To post regularly on a rival team's board and not have everybody hate you requires two things: a thick skin and a sense of humor. Your posts haven't really communicated that you have either.

I'm not trying to be an ass. I'm trying to help you keep posting here.

Then you've got the wrong impression. Sorry.

No....not really. It's more like how many people who live in Orlando, actually go to Disney? How many Nashvillians go to the Grand Ole Opry? How many people in St. Louis go to Budweiser? I could go on, but these are world class attractions that people who live there get worn out on them. For instance, I live just outside of Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg....people will travel from all over to come here. People here abhore the traffic and I'll make my own pancakes thank you.

If Obama gave a speech every week in Washington for 17 years, the crowd would dwindle.....if he came to Athens, TN the area would go nuts to see him. Why am I having to teach you common sense?

No, you missed my point.

Aersosmith is from Boston. They've probably played Boston more than any other city in the world. They have tons of loyal fans there. Maybe, like you said, not everyone goes to see them every time time they play Boston, because they don't want to spend the money every time.

But does that mean that a Boston area promoter should never book the Stones, because Boston is still Aerosmith country?

And chief, you compared a football coach to Hitler. You trying to teach anyone common sense is like me trying to teach Mandarin in China.

Freaks' rules are pretty straight forward.

Fans of other teams can add a unique perspective are always welcome here. However, keep in mind that this is a Tennessee board and those who support other schools should be respectful of the Tennessee program and fans.
