I've always wondered if having to be in the shadow of Pat, maybe some coaches aren't interested in this job. I hope the hire is a great one. I look forward to seeing whomever it is.

Yeah saw that one coming. But at least her players won or lost with a little bit of class. Unlike most in the sec women's game today. Hope the new hire is a good one.

do we look to head coaches of major programs or are the mid majors fair game?

Major Candidates:
Nicki Collen, Baylor (74-28)
Niele Ivey, Notre dame (89-32) and three straight trips to the sweet sixteen

Mid Majors
Lisa Fortier, Gonzaga (265-83) impressive 80% win percent but never goes very far in the tournament. Only two sweet sixteen trips in 10 years. Maybe she wants to be somewhere where she can go further?
Kim Caldwell, Marshall (217-31) first season in division one ball but an impressive career so far.
Lindy La Rocque, UNLV (102-22) like some of these other candidates, dominate in the regular season but struggles in the tournament.
Bart Brooks, Belmont (146-46) local candidate who has made trips to the tournament in all seasons except the covid season and made it to the second round twice
Carla Berube, Princeton (484-113) won everywhere she's been. Kind of an ivey league pedigree, but she's lost 17 games in four years at Princeton and is 48
Karl Smesko (611-110), dominant in the regular season but struggles in the tournament. Never made it further than the second round but he's won a lot of games over his career.

so sorry to hear this, I love Kellie Harper as a player and truly hoped she would be the "one" to replace Pat. I wish her and her family the best. We need someone tough to bring back the standard our lady Vols need to have. I would love to see Kara Lawson get a shot. She's done very well at Duke with a real young team.

Sometimes you gotta coach, not just be a friend. Coach Barnes seems to have the right balance, he loves his players, they love him, but he is tough and demands more.

Got to be serious about the money. KH was 12 th highest paid coach at 1.1 million per year. Going to take $3 million plus! That’s where Mulkey, Staley and Geno are.

Unproven but in the rise?
Not a coach
Good not great hire
Impossible
Love this one
LA Liberals aren’t coming to Knoxville
Old… would be a Rick Barnes type hire.. wouldn’t hate but not long term

Not that it should be relevant in a coaching search, but Cori Close is certainly nowhere near to being a liberal.

I like the Oregon St coach alot. But I don't think the new coach will be a white male. I also don't think it will be fm the Pat coaching tree.

But I have been wrong about almost everything regarding this so . .

Why not a "white male?"

You never want to be the one following a legend. That’s what is known as the “unintentional interim”. After two coaches, someone now has an incredible opportunity to restore a blue blood program.

No one would remember Cardosa's unguarded shot had it missed and maybe Kellie would still has a job?
I have to start every post by saying I've been wrong about it all.

But that's exactly what I think. The direction of the program is definitely concerning, but I believe they would have waited a year given the injuries etc this year, if not for that godforsaken 1.1 second. That whole thing, the whole image was just devastating beyond anything which KJH was likely to recover from. If we had beaten NC State possibly, but I think Kamilla's shot, and typical of KJH's epic bad luck also the missed obvious double dribble that enabled it, was the straw that broke Kellie's back. Not to speak of my heart. Still can't get over it.

That 1.1 seconds would not have mattered even if they made the shot if someone anyone would've guarded it. You can't leave anyone open like that not even Shaq ONeal

Again, I've been wrong about everything, and I'm probably wrong about this. Hope I am.

I just think breaking the barrier of hiring a male would be a big enough deal on it's own. I'm afraid a white male would be viewed as breaking too many representation barriers. Again, I'm probably wrong and hope I am.

I just want the best damn coach in the universe, regardless race, color, or creed.
