Coach Kellie Harper fired

Tennessee football pays Other sports
Danny White account able For aLL programs
Football was his guy before in Florida
So for his repatriation of best athletic director

Depends on him wining a championship
If they can't get it done
Fans will call for the football coaches firing.

For football coach sake he better win
Vol fans only wait so long.
The Orange Bowl season of two years ago (when TN was ranked #1 for admittedly only a week) is seen as a top 5 all-time year for TN football. This discussion is just silly.

White just did now what was inevitable after next season. And no, Kellie's program was not going to miraculously turn around next season just because you wanted to believe it would. At best we would have seen the same and fallen further behind the top teams. And comparing Kellie's situation and bashing other current Vol head coaches is just being butt hurt pathetic.

Its sports coaching, happens end of every season.

Everyone including me wants a higher finish. It’s obvious that at least half the people who care think our down year is acceptable. That’s the real world, not fantasy land.

I disagree about the South Carolina game. A player who has never made a 3 banks in a prayer. There’s been enough discussion, but there’s no one who disagrees that we were unlucky and the result changes perception.

4th 1st round draft pick in a row I’m not sure (hopefully someone can research). But this may be an all-time record. How do you even argue this topic….? Stick with the others.

20 wins is not enough and definitely the best argument to make. The excuse I’d make (admittingly) is that our best player being our caused us to be 4-4. And I would love to have gotten the South Carolina & NC State wins. But we didn’t. I’m not afraid to admit failure and have high expectations. Are you afraid to give credit which counters your argument?
I don’t think anyone has an issue with the team being beat on a bank shot by a a player who has never hit one in a game, it’s the fact that no one guarded the inbounder so you were defending 5 on 4 and no one was marking her so she caught it uncontested, had time to STEP BACK to win the game and shot uncontested to win. Some feel that is an example of coaching malpractice which explains other loses especially when you had a timeout and chose not to use it when you saw she was unguarded.

But that is just how some see it.

I don’t think people are partying as much as they’re tired of watching schools with limited historical success pass us. Love it or hate it, everyone we hire will be compared to Pat. Alabama didn’t forget about Bear until they hired Saban. We need to find the women’s basketball version of Saban.

That's fair. I wasn't talking about the ones thinking we were treading water and needed a change. It was the good riddance, "You can have her" and "Happy days are here again" folks.

Except he’s already expectations, keep getting wrapped around the wheel of letter language while not paying attention.

And I've said it before, but I think the LV program is one that, if you offer the top 5 coaches in the country the job, one of them jumps at it. It is still that prestigious, but probably just for this hire. Mess this one up, and it's UCLA post-Wooden.

Believe in Danny White plan he put in paper
He says he wants to compete for National championship/SEC championships
That's only championships Vols fans care about
At Two of Tennessee most winning National championship programs
Tennessee football six National championship
Women's basketball Eight National championship

Who would be top five?

DW didn't hire Tony V. And apparently you know jack squat about baseball.

I don't post in this forum often because some of y'all can get a bit rabid. Pat established many traditions, but above all else, she demanded excellence and never settled for mediocrity. KJH has consistently put mediocrity on the floor and has been less than mediocre on the recruiting trail. If you're going to invoke Pat, then remember her correctly, please. There will never be another, but that doesn't mean we should settle for less than we can be simply to keep someone who played for her in the coaching position. Especially one that has failed to come close to her standards. I like KJH, but she has not kept this program to the standards Pat did.

KJH was not treated unfairly. She was given a chance and failed to meet the set standards.

DW became part of the UT family when he was hired. You don't have to have a degree from Tennessee to be part of the family. Ask Rick Barnes.

This whole "keeping it in the family" idea is called inbreeding and it's bad for the gene pool.

Thank you 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

I'll admit I'm not the best to answer that, but I'm sure they've all been mentioned in this thread. Staley for certain. Geno too (one of the 4 refusals for certain). Hammon most likely belongs in that group.

Beyond that, I might have to amend my statement because some of the others that are in the conversation are 60+ in age (VanDerVeer, Mulkey). I think the general direction of what I was saying holds though.

Im pulling for Hammon, she is only making 1mil a year in WNBA. If Danny plays his cards right he could also get Candice Parker in the ear of Hammon aswell. The only downside to that hire is the recruiting aspect. She would need to hire some assistants that are rockstars on the recruiting trail to learn from.

Kellie lost more support vs South Carolina than North Carolina state
If she hadn't called for a foul and South Carolina hits a loog three
Don't think Kellie would gotten All that blow back.
Plus guarding space did end Kellie Support in Tennessee administration.

Yeah, she's the one who could assemble that staff though. I think she'd only leave the WNBA for TN or UConn (well Stanford too), and she'd have to directly follow Geno with UConn, so TN seems like the best college spot for her. She'd be the first call I'd make if I were DW.

The not covering the ball in that South Carolina game was the dumbest coaching move a lot of people saw all season. The was the death knell in her career at UT sadly.

It definitely looked like McCorvy said something about covering the ball and she was waved off which made it even worse IMO.

Curious, have Coach Sam and Joy been terminated as well? Their online handles still have UT and their titles, was just wondering if the entire staff was terminated.

I'd guess it's like when a football head coach is fired. The staff stays on just in case they're wanted by the incoming coach (and to defray buyouts), but they're lame ducks in the extreme.

The new coach will make those decisions. I think Coach Joy is worth retaining. The players love her and of all of them she seems to have her head screwed in the best.

Lord knows I would die right here if we hired Hammon and Parker as her top assistant.
