Coach Kellie Harper fired

This must have been on just before Coach Harper was fired as no mention of it. They do mention that Jewell is coming back and what the plans are for the summer. Zaida and Sarah.

Nah it was after. Just avoiding talking about it.

She talks about the games that happened Monday night so Kellie had been let go already.

Supposedly this was decided a month ago...the coaches were privy to it, but it hasn't been announced yet... The failure of the big donor NIL funds had everything to do with the LVBHC and nothing to do with Kellie. It's unfair that our coaches didn't get to take advantage of it.

Was she? The question I'd like EarlVolFan to address is will the coach have the vast NIL resources because the coach isn't Kellie? Was there donor unease bc of Kellie? Did the reorganization where new LV players get Vol Club resources happen only bc of a new coach or would that have happened anyway? Was this yet another instance of bad timing for Kellie or was it bc of Kellie?

Interesting, thanks. So even knowing KJH was going to finally get NIL support she hadn't previously had he fired her anyway. I guess just the lack of high profile wins? Do you know if DW and KJH had previously had a good working relationship?

We have so many threads going on I’m not sure if this is the right place for this or not but..,
I have wondered how this would all have worked out if, instead of fading away and then passing, Pat had had coached a few more years and then retired. I benefited mightily from a mentor and wonder if Holly, Kellie et al wouldn’t have benefited by being able to call Pat or have Pat look at some film etc.. I felt like Kellie would have particularly benefited from Pat’s guidance.
Sadly we’ll never know.
Also there is the high likelihood that Pat would still be coaching so Geno wouldn’t break her records!!! First one coaching until eighty wins!!!
I would been Kellie I would have called
Mickey Demons for a coaching assistant
She around for six National titles
She would add experience
And help coach Kellie Jolly
She would been someone who Kellie could trust
To tell her what's working and what's not.
She would have had Kellie Ear when she spoke
And would have had players attention to.

I am not doubting EarlVol and if that was how the situation played out , man life is cruel.

Hi Kellie, you have been keeping the ship afloat while competing at a crippling funding disadvantage that would have sunk most programs to the depths of irrelevancy. So, I have good news and bad news. The $ is going to start flowing and you're fired. Thanks for your service, thoughts and prayers.....

Which is why I asked about their prior working relationship. Seems like cruelty is the point. So the scenario you describe happens - over zoom. Ouch.

I’ve also wondered about the blindside firing, No paper trail? No improvement plan? No goal discussion? Doesn’t sound very institutional . Do ADs really do that?

Multiple grains of salt.

This is information from the same camp of people who were certain her job was not in jeopardy up until the moment she was fired.

It is considerably more likely that the funding would only happen with a coaching change. It’s asinine to think there is some meanie conspiracy to fire Kellie as soon as they got NIL funding.

Correct. I believe the actual quote was “Kellie will not get fired this year. You are stupid and know nothing!! She will be our head coach next year!”

No unfair at all when the the staff is 12-37. Had it been 37-12 we aren’t having this unfair discussion. Funny, you blame everyone except the coach.

I'm not sure about their 'working relationship'. I was around DW on Senior Day and at sat close to him at three of the tournament games. My 'Spidey Sense' told me that something was going on, but I had no idea he was thinking of doing this, especially after hearing the NIL was changing. After the fact, I heard that Kellie had some idea in the weeks leading up to her termination.

I doubt there would be a paper trail. Tennessee is a 'right to work' state and all such docements would be available though the Freedom of Information Act.

Believe what you will, but why was this decided with the coaches knowledge weeks before? I have heard of no such stipulation by donors.

Kellie is NOT coaching for her job.
So which is it?

Thanks for the info. Important for my closure to understand how all this happened.

My question is not only why but who "decided" after two miserable years to finally free up NIL fm the LVBHC? Can the AD have a hand in that? And why wasn't it done much sooner before all this damage was done? Was the timing so close to Kellie's firing a coincidence?

I'm probably just not up on how things work anymore, but I'm still surprised DW and KJH didn't have a sit down if she was on the verge for weeks.

Earlier this year FSU was given penalties by the NCAA for just driving a recruit to meet someone in their collective (see Sources: NCAA levies significant penalties on Florida State for NIL recruiting violations), so I'd guess the rule is that generally the university isn't supposed to be involved. The TN/VA lawsuit is probably going to change some things, and quite frankly it's probably better that schools ARE involved in this stuff than the subterfuge almost all schools are likely resorting to now.

But there's so little detail in the articles I've seen that I could be way off base with what's allowed or not.

Yes it's always been known schools can't officially be involved at this time. And yes, it looks like the future is salary will move in house at schools and true name image and likeness will stay w collectives.

I'm just curious about the timing of the LVs funds finally being better, apparently bc of being wrestled away from the booster club, and then Kellie immediately being fired.

NIL WILL BE THE DEATH OF COLLEGE SPORTS AS WE KNOW IT. There should be a cap on how much they can make. It’s just a cluster f*+\!
