I have loved Kellie since her days in Sparta.

Sadly....extremely sadly...time for Danny to work his Heupel magic.

Otherwise, we are having a repeat of this conversation next March.
He tried with two other guys before settling for the guy down the hall. Having said that following the “we are terrible cheaters” press conference, it was a difficult time to recruit a football coach.

It's been decided - not sure if they will make a formal announcement or not...

Awesome to hear. Hope it changes the narrative around here. The mindless NIL arguments can pound sand, and we can finally find out whether or not the money was driving all those whiffs in the top 10 recruiting. I'm a broken record but the real game changers are few and far between -- and I can't imagine they're cheap now.

I've been perfectly amendable to believing those top end players want their bags, but I'm also perfectly amendable to the idea that the NIL wasn't the whole problem. If the program is being strengthened, then we can hopefully get some answers.

The only thing worse than being a bad team is being a mediocre team that muddles along. When you're bad you simply sack the coach.
When you're mediocre, you keep being mediocre and the diehard supporters always pretend, year after year, that the program will get better. If it hasn't after 5 years with a coach, odds are it won't ever. We've been muddling along rather embarrassingly for 15 years....

Let's try harder to buy a better team, everybody!

Kellie has literally coached during the most unstable era of D1 SPORTS ever…

In her 5 years she’s had to navigate:

COVID-19
-no postseason
-a year without fans
-no in person recruiting for almost 2 years
-extra year of eligibility

ONE TIME FREE TRANSFER

TRANSFER PORTAL

5TH (6TH AND 7TH) YEARS

NIL/COLLECTIVES

Any ONE of these issues is literally WORLD CHANGING to the face of sports. SHES DEALT WITH ALL in 5 years!!! (And she had to do it adjusting to a terrible last year of Holly.)

Why do people think so many coaches are retiring/quitting? Esp in the men’s side. It’s not the same game. It’s not Pats era or Genos era or even the Sabrina Inoescu era…

Even if u want her gone please have nuance… like I said most don’t watch the sport or have any idea how ridiculous their demands for a coach are.

So did all the other D1 coaches/staffs who didn’t opt out. aka Duke

Then choose - you either choose to give the coaching staff the tools they need to compete with the other major schools in the sport, or you choose for the program to whiff on almost every major recruit and remain irrelevant. There isn't going to be an in-between, not until regulations and control are restored.

Lol....I guess UT was the only school in the country that had these issues. Laughable.
They don’t have Tennessees standard. That’s the issue. Kara doesn’t at Duke

In all measures Kellie is running on of the best programs in the country

Just not UTs “standard”

She wasn’t allowed to have those down years many others did…

She also was in a transition period at UT

AGAIN I HATE PEOPLE LIKE U TOO

HATE

VICERALLY

so screw off

Kara and Kellie are in similar positions. Both were taking new jobs during covid. That situation is very different from an established coach who has his/her recruiting connections in place. Kellie inherited a program in a more dismal state but she had more coaching experience.

Kellie has had higher conference finishes and 2 S16 to Kara's one (this season).

One could make a case that both have done pretty well under the circumstances. Duke does seem to be trending better but, we won't know for sure, until the transfer portal dust has settled.

Was gonna type this but I’m not wasting my time anymore. You are correct. I’m just muting the perineal pests.

They were still only a 7 in the tournament played a great game at OSU…

Still wouldn’t say a better position tho. You really can never tell year over year

Maybe from HS recruiting recently but we’ll see

His point was that the playing field was even. Just another year.

And all of those things only occurred in the state of Tennessee….
