Coach Prime

Put Kirby in year one at Colorado and he’s not getting 80 portal guys and flipping a roster.
Coach Neon couldn't have either without ESPN and the media. I saw more Colorado in the last year than I have my entire adult life.

I didn't see the ESPN crew with a behind the scenes on campus show already scripted and laid out hours after Kirby was hired. I don't think there has been a single NCAAF segment since that didn't feature something of CU.

I'm laughing at the people thinking CU will go bowling. I seriously doubt they win another game. I just sense a big implosion coming lol.

USC and Oregon are Legit the rest of the pac 12 is kinda ya know PAC 12 aka paper tigers. Any given week any pac 12 team could very well beat any other one. It's always been that way. I can not see a way where Colorado does not find 3 more wins in the PAC-12. Stanford, UCLA, Arizona and Arizona state are worse teams than Colorado even without Travis Hunter. Oregon State and Washington State haven't played anyone except each other and Oregon state lost that game.. no longer ranked. Both of them will have at least 2-3 Ls and be unranked by the time they meet Colorado.
I think and Utah and Washington are pretty good football teams too. Colorado got a break by not having U Dub on the schedule because they would get blasted by them too. I think you have a higher opinion of the Buffs than I do. And I think that for all that Deion has done to create an incredible buzz for the team and the school, he has created the unintended consequence of never allowing his team to have a bad game because everyone is going to give them their best game. Do you think Dan Lannng or anyone else GAF about “you better get me now” ? No. Because they’re going to be in the Big 12 next year and the conference is dissolving. When they go to Pullman in late November and it’s at night that place might be hosting its last PAC 12 game ever. No way Colorado gets out of there alive . Good teams go there and lose. Colorado isn’t good. Not yet . That’s why I see them having a hard time getting to 6.

So the crux of your argument is that if Kirby Smart had taken a job at a dead program he should receive as much attention as one of the greatest athletes in NFL history taking that job? Kirby wasn’t known for being anything other than a DC at Bama until he inherited the most stable program in the SEC at the time. Why would he ever get the level of attention Prime gets?

Or are you staying ESPN should go with stories and coverage that gets a lesser amount of viewership and hype? Do you not understand that viewership creates profitability for networks and that it’s in their interest to give viewers what they want?

I have no idea if they will go bowling but prime tripled the prior year win total in his first three games and brought millions in revenue and the biggest spotlight CU has had since their natty in 1990. Their game vs CSU at 10 eastern had 9M viewers (a record for that time slot) while the Thursday night NFL game had 12M. The question of whether his first year at CU was a success for the university had already been answered regardless of he goes bowling or not.

I'm saying the media did it, not coach Neon. They're not even that good, but if you listen to the media you would have thought they were in championship form day 1. I seriously doubt they win another game and media will stop caring after loss 3 or 4. Then, bye Neon.

He lost to a top 10 team a year after they won one game. Inbred you can't diminish his star power.
It's not the same team that won 1 game last year so it wasn't coaching that turned them around, it was the transfer portal. What makes him the "real deal" exactly, because he knows how to get media attention?

Like him or hate him, it's Like I said a few weeks ago. He was set up to fail. Anybody with any football knowledge knew he was only going to win 4 -6 games this year but all the "know it alls" just kept pumping. Of course Dion does love the attention so he ate it up. If they do end up winning 4 - 6 games this year, I think he will have done a good job.

Here's to a 4 win season so he can work on next year and spare us the bowl season love fest

Slang term for a narcissistic racist

You do realize Coach Prime condemned the death threats that theCSU safety and his family we're getting, right?

That WHITE CSU Safety...🙄.

Henry Blackburn gave a clear cheap shot to Hunter that lacerated his lungs.
He could have seriously hurt Travis Hunter. He could have stayed quiet and let people pile on Blackburn and his WHITE family.

But no, he painted a clear picture of priorities in the matter and absolutely condemned it. Even called Blackburn a "good kid", that was just playing the game hard.

Since then, Travis Hunter and Henry Blackburn have met for a bowling night and each donated $1,000 to a charity afterwards 🙄.

Blackburn then thanked Travis, because he was concerned about his little sisters still living at home. He was fearful of idiot fans like you, that live emotionally and illogically through life🙄.

Racist??? You're beyond help at this point in your life.

just because you are against death threats as a public figure doesn't mean you aren't racist. even death threats against your alleged target race. there is a pretty steep difference between hating someone based on their race and wanting to see a 20 something member of that race be killed.

and I don't think Deion is racist, just saying.

He’s done an exceptional job at a program that went 1-11 and he’s very high profile. I realize that you don’t understand how the media works but they need ratings to make money and are in the business of promoting and chasing ratings. Your irrational anger at this situation doesn’t negate that he’s earned millions for Colorado, got them in the spotlight for the first time since the early nineties, got Gameday there for the first time in almost thirty years, and tripled their win total from the prior year in his first three games. If you don’t like what’s being discussed, watch other college football games and media pundits or watch the NFL or some other sport.

Didn’t he bring them in the portal or recruit them or was that some other coach before he got hired? There’s this funny thing about sports and it’s that even good coaches need talent. Just ask Heupel how that works when he didn’t have the players and we got embarrassed at Florida. Even a good game caller can look as pedestrian as Dooley/Butch/Pruitt if the personnel situation is bad enough. That performance in Florida wasn’t any different than what we saw from those guys except for maybe that win that Butch dropped in Gainesville.

A heck of a lot of the Coach Prime hate here is misplaced. All the haters say: The media did it, not Coach Prime!

Then blame Coach Prime. The fact you're hating at all is because of the media. The people making the money when you click on a story or watch a game.... the media.

Colorado, the Denver/Boulder area, the merchants, hotels, restaurants are all just along for the ride and making money from the buzz.

Deion Sanders, as much as I've watched him since he played, doesn't seem to have changed a lot. Brash, arrogant, blinged up, and runs his mouth too much for me.

Deion hasn't changed. Some of y'all, including me, hardly gave Deion a thought until he went to Jackson State, then Colorado. Now...... here we are months into a Deion thread on a TN Vols fan board. Deion hasn't changed. Who are you really pissed off at? Find a mirror. You've taken the bait by the media.

I don't think Sanders gets attention as a college coach due to being a successful pro athlete. He gets attention because he's a combination of Coach Carter (or pretends to be) and 50 cent.

My problem with Sanders has nothing to do with his pro career. It has a bit to do with the fraud he was as a "student"-athlete at FSU and how FSU giggled about it all the way to the bank.

Its the showboat nature of the man that bothers me. Even with his Coach Carter routine, he brags about it. Makes it about him. Its his ego I cannot stand, along with the fake "doing it for the kids" routine.

Sanders has not changed. He's been like he is since the first mic came in front of him. You'd think it's parody, like an Andy Kaufman or Joaquin Phoenix on Letterman, but he's apparently actually this annoying naturally.

That's my thing with all this hate. You'd think the guy just started this schtick from all the hate but he's been doing this on a national level since 1989 whenever the camera hits him. 🤷‍♂️

Here's his draft interview. Same Deion. 1989. It's not an act or it's a dang long performance for a persona.

People who hate Prime and are also masochistic negavols are even less happy about it, I’d wager.
Don't hate Deion he was a great player. Probably the best DB ever imo. But I can't get on the train as a coach because of what he did. Sure his job is to make his team better but to walk in and tell a team most of you won't be here was crazy. How would he feel if they treated his kids that way after sacrificing for a University ? Just my opinion, he may turn out to be great at coaching. Time will tell the story though. Just me personally I am in a show me mentality and I do not particularly find anything he has done coaching ti this point impressive

Do you have to tackle when very few people could actually catch a ball ? I remember watch him and Jerry go at it. Man those were some battles. I also think Jerry Rice was the best receiver to play the game. Dude was all work
