Coachery

Per Basilio. We'll just have to wait and see what comes out after the hire is made. Apparently, we offered Dykes and he was spooked by the potential fan reaction. Which is hilarious and sad.
I trust some, not all, of what Basilio says and I have a very hard time believing this. No way 1) he says no and 2) we offered him this early in the game---and it is still early, we're only 4 days into White's hire.

The AD made an announcment saying they were renegotiating his contract.

Not that I think we're gonna get Campbell, but what he actually said is now they need to turn their attention to renegotiating his contract and his staff. He didn't say they are currently in negotiations or that it had been done.

Dont buy into these 'reports'. It's BS.
What does seem certain is that if no one is announced today, we're down to our 3rd or 4th or 5th option.

Lets go through this like they are abc's. If you are a coach with a name on a list for a major hire in a very short period of time, and you know it, do you go making promises to other coaches and giving them contracts?

I don't know, I think we all adjust to our circumstances, some a little more magnanimously than others, but all roughly the same.

I mean, I do think you're right, that there are folks who have enslaved themselves to belongings. But most folks are like you and me. Not obsessed by their possessions, but not immune to the idea of nice things, either.

I grew up pretty close to impoverished, not welfare poor, but maybe just a step or two above it. Because my folks worked their butts off, we were better off by the time I left for college; maybe lower middle class...working class, anyway. Today, after a successful career, I'm probably what we call upper middle class. And through all those levels of living, I've always had things I would like but couldn't quite afford. When I was a kid, it was maybe real milk instead of that freeze-dried stuff. Today, it's keeping enough of a reserve on hand to pay for a couple of weddings when and if my daughters strike the fancy. If I were rich, it might be a yacht or a jet.

We're human. We have goals. Those goals seem to pretty much never run out. Whether we're selfish, or tithing, or donating a third of each paycheck to charity. We still have projects and goals. Right?

Anyway, sorry, got off topic. I think the fella making $5.5M a year today would certainly be enticed by the possibility of $8M a year instead. The only question is whether the extra pain would be worth the extra gain.

Don't you think?

💯

SF what’s the hold up if the offer was accepted last night. No way does it take this long to inform the team and release it to the press?

That was due to his name being mentioned for NFL jobs. The same with Riley.

Is Bob Stoops dead set on not coaching again? Hall of Fame coach would have a nice ring to it. He saw first hand what Neyalnd can be like when it's rocking....
