I'm not saying he isn't light years ahead. What I'm saying is if we go from a proven winner (Franklin) to another learn on the job (Elliott) coach, without looking at or talking to others, then yea in that category I would say Currie is better. Currie still sucked, and not defending him, but at least he attempted to get winners after the Schiano fiasco.I've seen nothing to indicate DW isn't light years ahead of Currie as an AD. If he goes with Elliot, after reading about his history with him, I'll trust that there's a very good reason.
There's finally an AD on the job I have some confidence in.

This cannot be overstated! In my experience with contracts of several million dollars ( not coaching related obviously ) the actual numbers were the easy part. The ancillaries and subtext took 100x longer to work through and that is even with everything going smoothly. Now I am not saying Franklin is coming but I can 100% imagine that any contract given the current climate of our program is a contract lawyer's tedious dream. So SF could have been accurate that money was agreed on, but finer details have yet to be established.I wouldn’t be so sure. Given the uncertainty we are in with the penalties, the final agreement terms and how they are worded is going to mean a lot in my opinion. I know that many gloss over this stage as “just the lawyer part,” but this part is what makes/breaks many deals when there is any inkling of skepticism. So, if I’m Franklin’s counsel, I need to check the contract from every angle to make sure my client has financial and career security/options should Tennessee get hit hard with penalties. And if you’re Tennessee, you’re trying to be accommodating but also wary of getting backed into a corner with an absurd sweetheart deal. I’m sure this is everyone’s top priority, but it takes time, especially when novel provisions are involved outside the general form contract
Imo, it's seems silly to color someone professionally because you, with almost no knowledge of details, didn't like their latest choice.I'm not saying he isn't light years ahead. Yep. Any decent lawyer is gonna say up front.......zip it and let me do the talking. In this case everybody shoulda just played dumb and say "I have no idea what you're talking about." I actually think the NCAA not only expects that but in a weird way appreciates it.
Now the Mims case, for instance, regardless if any money changed hands just spin it as though, "Well that's just typical UGA bs trying to make us look bad or getting even for Mays filing a lawsuit against them." I've yet to see a case where a school penalizes themselves in an effort to minimize NCAA sanctions and get much leniency. I think their compliance dept. is over-whelmed and they just can't make fair/unbiased decisions.
So it's silly to say TN deserves a proven HC with a track record of success and not an OC who's never been a HC? Sorry for wanting the best here.Imo, it's seems silly to color someone professionally because you, with almost no knowledge of details, didn't like their latest choice.
Imma stickin' w/ DW.
It's hard to explain that to the mattress burning portion of our fan base. Most of his info is legit, but I do think we're getting deep enough into the search that his source has been mostly shutout and is not giving him anything but potentially true information, if that makes sense? He has definitely hit his credentials, all of his information from December to last week was as close to 100% as you can get. But now with White in charge, you notice some of it is more speculative, and even Fumbles will admit to such. This is more in line with White than it is Fumbles lying to us; and this is why I've come to the conclusion that everything we're hearing is hearsay and we just need to be patient and wait. White has the athletic department on lockdown, and we just aren't used to that.
I think you're looking for an argument...don't have one.So it's silly to say TN deserves a proven HC with a track record of success and not an OC who's never been a HC? Sorry for wanting the best here.

Don't know when or why this would've have happened but I'm cracking up right now.

Agreed, but my point is still he at least went after those with a HC record and who were, mostly, pretty successful.
You’re on to something here! Imagine what a yacht full of naked swimsuit models, docked outside of Calhoun’s, would do for recruiting! Someone call the head of the Vol navy and make this happen, NOW!So the guy with $5.5M is sitting in his nice leather lazy boy drinking the $2,000 a bottle version of a Bud Lite, and he's thinking, "man, I have everything I could ever want. This $5.5Millionaire gig is sure worth it. But...WAIT! If I had another $2.5M, I could afford to buy my own jet plane and the pilots to go with it! Yeah, that would be sweet! Now, just where can I find another $2.5M, where can I ..."
There's always more to be had. Until you've bought your third yacht for hosting the naked swimsuit model parties while motoring between houses #9 and #10, you can always think of more things you want.
The only fellas who reach that magical limit you're thinking of are the billionaires who are giving huge chunks of their money away (see Bill Gates). They're the only ones who have run out of ideas for things they want.
