Coaches you can support completely?

I think Malzahn could recruit well here. Up tempo offense that would be exciting for recruits and if he could hire a respectable DC could be successful at UT.

Not bad. I think his lack of a quality defense scares people away for him to be at UT.

Well with all the money we got free we could hire a top notch d coordinator. Briles wouldnt be too expensive so we could hit a homerun with a staff.

I will get behind whoever is hired. I'd like to see Fisher, Strong, Mora, Mullen or Franklin. I would hate to see Golden, but if I had to, I could hold my nose.

If you knew you could bring back Blackburn to the AD and pay him to watch over Butch Davis, he'd be the best guy to "settle for". (If we get that low on the list)

Right now...Fedora and Franklin (in that order). Patterson doesn't have the personality to get fans and recruits fired up IMO. Stoops is a pipe dream...Golden is overrated...and Strong just doesn't do it for me. Honestly, I can't stand Franklin. I think he's a crybaby. But 8 wins at Vandy is nuts...and he has consistently recruited better than us. Would be a great hire.

I would be completely confident and comfortable if UT hired:

Shaw (Stanford)
Fedora (UNC)
Mora Jr. (UCLA)

I wanted Gruden, more for the immediate impact he would have on recruiting and the insane staff that he would have assembled.

I think my three picks would get UT back to championship level with a quickness. Shaw may be a long shot but, for me, he runs a very close second to Gruden. I do think in regard to college jobs go, he may be at his dream job, but, I also want to believe that coaching in the SEC has got to be intriguing enough for him, or anybody, to listen to UT's offer. I doubt he is even on Hart's radar but if I were AD, I would do a full court press on this cat and make him tell me to gtfo.

Shaw insists now, as he did when he was hired in January, that Stanford is his “dream job” and the “first and only head coaching job” he wants. He understands credit will never come his way this season, not with Luck headlining a roster stacked with NFL talent, and that’s perfectly fine by Shaw.
The way he sees it, if his name is never mentioned for a more high-profile job, that’s just one less distraction.
“It does nothing for me. I don’t get excited about it. I don’t go, ‘Ooooh, that’s kind of cool,”’ Shaw said. “I don’t care. I don’t need anyone to give me any credit for what I’m doing. I don’t need my name to be bounced around for anything. I couldn’t care less. I want to dig my heels in here and hopefully they’ll drag me away from this place and force me into retirement at some point.”

I'm very interested in Shaw. The style of football Stanford is playing would work in the SEC, and would be familiar to UT fans. My only concern would be how much of his success is attributable to Harbaugh, although two years of solid performance is starting to alleviate those concerns. I'd be very happy if Shaw were the guy.

ETA: But yeah, what V4L said.

Agreed, this really could be a solid choice...and like you said, fun to watch. But we may have to supply him with some orange duck tape for his wife's mouth...
