Coaches you can support completely?

I really wish that if we hire any of these coaches, we were not tied into this long term deal and buy-outs and all of that. If we want to give them a chance, fine, but all of this hiring and firing and endless debate and money just divides VolNation terribly. My recommendation would be to do what Arkansas did and sign some guy (Chaney?) to a 1 year deal and wait and see if anyone better becomes available. No one on these lists excite me at all and I can't imagine that I am alone in that feeling. I can't comprehend that any of them are worth 18 million over the next 3 years.

Whoever we hire as long, as they're not named Gruden or Stoops, will make less than 4 million.

None of these coaches would be worth 6 mil a year. The only one that would even be close would be Stoops and I don't think he would be worth more than 5 mil a year. There are a couple mentioned in this thread might be worth 4 million.

I'd say the closest to making 4+ million would be Patterson. To me, he is the only realistic choice to have at the top of the list.

Whichever coach they hire whether I agree or not I will give my full support until they do something to lose it.

I will support the next coach regardless. I love UT football and will get behind the next guy like Dooley. Hell, we could be 0-11 and I would watch and pull for us to win, and be pissed if we lost. With that being said, I'll take Fisher

See I like Malzahn as well. I think he could recruit well with the offense he runs and if he could bring a respectable DC with him would be successful.

It would help if we knew what he made now, but the best guess that I've seen is around 3.1 or 3.2.

Not sure where, but someone has posted the salaries of potential candidates on earlier threads. I'll see if I can find it and post for everyone.

I am not sure if they have already been named, have not read all posts in this thread. If you were to ask my opinion? I would say Jim Mora Jr., Gundy, and Stoops. The problem being Stoops is already the number 3 highest paid coach and has a great thing going plus his brother just came into a rival SEC school. Gundy bleeds for Ok St., and Jim Mora Jr. just got things cranked up in a positive direction in LA. That being said, If I had to choose between fedora, golden, and strong, I'd look into houses in the Florida area to retire to. No spark there. Sure each could maybe do a fine job, IF you spot them the years it would take. Strong is no SEC champion level coach, neither are the other two. It could be said about my three picks as well, but I believe they are much closer to that level than the three everyone seems to talk about. No animosity, I will support whomever it is, I just thought this was a personal opinion thread, and that is what I have, nothing more than my own personal opinion, that matters no where. ha!

i don't understand the show cause on hiring Tressell, that he would not be allowd to coach in one game every year for the next five games...can someone relate on this I don't get it.. if thats the only reason then every year our worst match up like TROY or so we would still be fine. I would take : Patterson, Tressell, Peterson, at this point just put the water boy in.

I think it's the first 5 games in the season he starts and the NCAA has to approve the hiring.

After JG

Happy:
Mora
Davis
Tressell

Wouldn't be thrilled with but would support:
Fulmer/Chavis in some fashion
Strong
Belotti
Fisher
Roman

Not sure;
Fedora
Hazell

Al Golden is Mike Shula clone.

The rest of the big names are pipe dreams.

If Kirby Smart is hired, then we know Hart is hellbent on making us look like toads.

oh, so it would just be the first five games only thats his violation by ncaa , but after that there's some up-side with hiring him, Ohio state has done well .

thanks for the help, i really didn't understand the show cause thing.
