Coaches you can support completely?

Fedora's claim to fame is that he got Southern Miss to 10-2 last year and after he left, Southern Miss went 0-12 this year. UNC was 8-4 this year. Overall his record is 42-23. So it could be said that he's an up and comer.

Golden took a Temple team that makes UK look like world beaters and got them to 9-4 and 8-4 his last two years there, but he has done squat at Miami.

So I would take Fedora over Golden, but both are down the list.

These are good points, and like you said I hope they are far down the list. My problem is we are in a desperate time as a program. If Larry Fedora, who in 4 seasons in the CUSA won it once and only won more than 8 games once, is the answer our AD comes up with it's pathetic. Giving up 68 points to Georgia Tech is another thing. Then Golden. Yea, he did a nice job building Temple. But it's the MAC. I know he's had some tough hands dealt to him, but 40-45 as a head coach is supposed to come here and resurrect our program? Get real. Idk how anyone could support either hire after what our program has been through.

Is take the 4 guys that coached yesterday in addition to Patterson, Roman, Bill o'brien, Gary Andersen, Bob stoops, Larry fedora, and a few others I forgot.

Realistly out the bunch of Golden, Fisher, Strong and Fedora...

Fedora...in his first year at UNC; doubtful he'll jump ship that soon

Strong....same thing; in his first year and doubtful he'll leave

Golden...a better chance since he's been there two years and the Canes might get it more from the NCAA.

Fisher...who knows know since Stoops has left for KY and is trying to pry some to go wth him. Could go either way. He's been wth FST since 2007

I just keep seeing the same names in here just in various arrangements. Let me suggest something that you may laugh off the board, but it is not out of the question. There was a post a while back that suggested that perhaps hart has his man, and it was someone that no one was talking about. I am starting to think this may be what is happening. This guys name has been mentioned only in passing a couple of times that I can see. it is someone who Peyton Manning has great respect and admiration for and he is someone who would be the perfect couch to be in place as a mentor for when Peyton decides to leave as a player and start coaching. I know it has been said that he would not coach again, but money talks, and I beleive this man has a genuine desire to help kids. Evidence of his efforts to hlep current players with problems. That man is none other that Tony Dungy. Any comments on this one?

He has said many times he was done coaching. I love Dingy and feel he could be a huge get if he wanted to coach. Someone else who is not likely at all, but I feel would be an awesome college coach is Herm Edwards.

Good idea.
Strong, Shaw, and Sumlin no doubt.

Patterson, Gundy, Stoops could tell you what I thought by signing day.

Maybe Jimbo but I dunno. He can clearly recruit but can he really coach. Would give him a shot.

And maybe this is a little far fetched but Raheem Morris.

Gruden of course but we all know that "APPEARS" unlikely.

charlie strong is in his 3rd season

I have a feeling that our next HC has a game today. Hart is waiting for his season to wrap up before letting any info leak out as to his choice. I just can't decide if its Jimbo at FSU or Patterson at TCU.

As to timing, yes, that makes sense. I like Patterson.

Outside of Gruden...

Stoops
Patterson
Peterson
Butch Davis
Bobby Petrino

So so on...

Charlie Strong
Jimbo Fisher
James Franklin

Anything else and I will have similar feelings to when Dooley was hired....

The so, so list needs to be the go, go list. Maybe Fisher, just not sure. I like the others.

Considering the importance of this hire, and the money we have available, I would support Patterson, Davis, Stoops, Gundy, and maybe Mora, Jr. or Fedora.

Any of the first four would please me, then Mora and Fedora in order.

I've gone back & forth on Strong...but in all likeliness would get on the Strong train too.

Stoops, Patterson, Petersen, Petrino, Shaw, Roman, Mora

Anyone else and I can't.

Edited to reflect mine...

Jury's out on Fedora, Gundy. Lots of good coaches out there, but we need a great one!

I honestly don't know if there is one I can support completely. I think that has something to do with how Dooley conditioned me.

I would say the one I could throw the most support behind and be excited about the most (realistically) would be Butch Davis.

If we hire Butch Jones or Sonny Dykes, I'll go full retard.

The same Butch Davis would open up next season at the ripe age of 62 and went 4-8, 8-5, 8-5, and 8-5 in his four years at UNC? I'll pass.
