Coaches you can support completely?

Strong, Davis, Jones, Fedora....in that order....btw, what the hell are we waiting for? Make sure they have money for great staff and go get em!

Fisher, Stoops, Butch Davis, Petersen and Whittingham - can support fully

Patterson, Gundy and Strong - Maybe

Smart, other Butch, Fedora - No Way

If we cannot get who we want in Gruden then take Petrino he will come cheaply and will be loyal forever just for the chance. For those of you worried about him cheating.. Put a morality clause in his contract with no wiggle room. He can win in the SEC and he would bring the VOLS back into the national conversation just look at what he did in Arky..

Anyone who wins and can beat Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Vandy, Kentucky and the occasional out of conference ranked team is on my list. Others need not apply.

OK here is your winning prescription

Gruden
Stoops
Tressel
Petrino

Go down a step, more of a gamble re winning in SEC

Patterson
Peterson

And on to, you feeling lucky, punk?

Strong
Fedora
Mora

And then there is, I like seeing the band and the nostalgia

Franklin
Fisher
Fulmer
Smart
Randy Sanders

Strong. I believe that is the best coach for our $$. Graham, Hinshaw, Pittman and Chaney would all be retained. We would improve our defense immensely while maintaining our offensive production with the 4 previously mentioned assistants. We would also only pay for the HC and DC as compared to totally overhauling the staff.

1st tier:
Gruden, Stoops, Patterson, Gundy, Petersen

2nd tier:
Mora, Fedora, Shaw, Strong, Fisher, Tressel* or Petrino*

3rd tier:
Franklin, Golden, Butch

*They are proven winners, if we are going to take a chance might as well do it with one of them if our first options fall out.

I just keep seeing the same names in here just in various arrangements. Let me suggest something that you may laugh off the board, but it is not out of the question. There was a post a while back that suggested that perhaps hart has his man, and it was someone that no one was talking about. I am starting to think this may be what is happening. This guys name has been mentioned only in passing a couple of times that I can see. it is someone who Peyton Manning has great respect and admiration for and he is someone who would be the perfect couch to be in place as a mentor for when Peyton decides to leave as a player and start coaching. I know it has been said that he would not coach again, but money talks, and I beleive this man has a genuine desire to help kids. Evidence of his efforts to hlep current players with problems. That man is none other that Tony Dungy. Any comments on this one?

none of these guys understand tennessee, so i doubt they will get the players to buy in.

Patterson is the one I like best, but the truth is I'll support whoever is hired. Some I'd be a lot more excited about than others.

Someone please talk me into this Fedora non-sense. Why in the hell would I want him? Or Golden?

Fedora's claim to fame is that he got Southern Miss to 10-2 last year and after he left, Southern Miss went 0-12 this year. UNC was 8-4 this year. Overall his record is 42-23. So it could be said that he's an up and comer.

Golden took a Temple team that makes UK look like world beaters and got them to 9-4 and 8-4 his last two years there, but he has done squat at Miami.

So I would take Fedora over Golden, but both are down the list.
