Coaching is the Issue

Realistically we are not even in the competition. Its a money game now and the 20 million plus guys won it this year. The 30 million dollar guys will win it next year. Huepel and his staff are out-coached in big games in any case. I thought Indiana and SMU did not belong in the top 12 , turns out it was UT that did not belong.

Agree. This is on Spyre. They haven't done jack with the money we gave them. They got us Nico, David Sanders Jr, and Mike Mathews. That is it. only 5 stars. 3 (1 per year as well). We need 3-4 of these players in a SINGLE class as well as more 4 stars to compete.

Josh has to make changes to the staff. I seriously think he is a good guy, but he has to be more cut throat, I know culture/family are important, but when you have family issues sometimes you have to disown your children. Seriously though there is no reason we play worse every year since 2022 while having more talent other than player development, aka coaching. The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over expecting a different result, changes are needed.
To me it’s okay calling. In 22 our play calling was rythmatic and keep defenses on their heels. Now it’s 3 and out. Very predictable.

My opinion - not coaching nor player, but mostly maturity. It has shown-up several times this season. In one, most 2 years, we will look similar to Texas does this year. I expect that the Vols will have a very consistent / productive offense, with a solid defense that forces opponent into one phase games.

I’ve never seen a DC refuse to adjust like Tim Banks refuses. We rushed 3 or 4 all night just like we did against Georgia and ended up with similar results. Their weakest link was their O-line and we just absolutely did them a huge favor by no blitzing and playing 15 yards off the ball on short third downs. If he is not fired then we are no serious about winning.

Fully disagree. This was predominantly a coaching loss. Yes there is a talent gap with Tennessee and Ohio State, but there was zero evidence of a plan tonight. There were no adjustments. The biggest difference in this game is Ohio State has very good offensive and defensive coordinators who built a plan that suits the athletes they have.

Tennessee walked into this game like they were drunk and hung over and had no idea they were playing football
Pretty much what they did in every road game..

I'd fire him and hire Garner for the job or someone else and give Rodney a pay raise.

Remember all the talk and worry that he would leave for a HC job?

Here is the reality - no one is offering him a HC job. But if they do, I hope he takes it. If losing Pili makes your defense collapse like this . . . You are not the guy. He got SMOKED by Chip Kelly.

That's what I said, its coaching.

We are no where near as talented as Ohio state. Nick Saban coaching us tonight wouldn’t have helped. The players on that field are the reason we aren’t on the level we think we are. Tonight was painfully obvious of that.
Wrong, Nick won a Natty in his 3rd year. If he had 4 years at Tennessee the player development would be better.

Banks absolutely is not fine. You can’t keep getting gashed the same way against good teams and not make adjustments and be fine. OSU saw UGA use motion, that we didn’t blitz against them, and set up routes down the seams and to boundaries and attacked us the same way. How can he not make adjustments for that?
Do you not understand our deficiencies at LB? A coaching change does nothing for that. Playing zone because the LBs can't cover man is what it is. Until we can recruit or grab an elite LB from the portal, it is what it is. Carter us good, but should be an end. Tealander is a tweener. Pili getting hurt was a blow. We've not had a elite LB since Mayo.

This....1000 times. We were outmanned at every position, especially one high profile skill position.

You deserve Jeremy Pruitt and hoping for that 6th win vs Vandy. We are in year 4 and to 10 two of the last three years and you want to start over. You are a terrible fan.

I keep hearing that Carter is good. Still looking for the opportunity to agree. I haven’t seen it. Mediocre. Overhyped.

This last part was hilarious! Thanks Vols for a successful year. It didn’t end how any of us wanted. However, a ten win season downing Florida and Bama is nothing to be disappointed over.

Whose job is it to bring in and develop those LBs?

It's not just coaching, we just played a team with top 3 talent, recruit wise on their turf. Unfortunately, if they continue to play like that, they will be the champs.

Personally, I'd like for it to be someone other than UGA or OSU.
