Coaching is the Issue

Banks said in press conference, we came up a little short tonight!!!!! Fire him!!!!! I have never liked him. He talks and has nothing to say.

It is no longer out recruit, it is now OUT SPEND.
Exactly! It’s honestly not that hard of a concept idk why people are clueless on this. You just ask every top 150 to 300 recruits how much you want to come play for us. Stop being picky. Haslam you’re worth $8.5 billion dollars. Load up and bring the brinks trucks to Neyland stadium today. It’s time that all the mega donors get serious and stop asking the working class fans to pick up the tab. It obviously ain’t working. We need more help.

Josh has to make changes to the staff. I seriously think he is a good guy, but he has to be more cut throat, I know culture/family are important, but when you have family issues sometimes you have to disown your children. Seriously though there is no reason we play worse every year since 2022 while having more talent other than player development, aka coaching. The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over expecting a different result, changes are needed.

I said this last night, but this game seemed to me like Clemson's 2012 Orange Bowl..... Dabo had turned that program around, but was still not good enough to get into the upper echelon of teams each year and rolled into Miami and got ran over by Geno Smith and that led to Steele getting the boot and Dabo bringing in a very hot commodity in Venables.

I'm not saying Heupel needs to fire Banks, but I think Heupel needs to overhaul the staff in regards to WR, LB, and Martinez..... If Banks was to get a head gig offer and accepts it, I think that would be ulitimately a great opportunity for Heupel to turnover the entire defensive staff except Garner.

I’ve never seen a DC refuse to adjust like Tim Banks refuses. We rushed 3 or 4 all night just like we did against Georgia and ended up with similar results. Their weakest link was their O-line and we just absolutely did them a huge favor by no blitzing and playing 15 yards off the ball on short third downs. If he is not fired then we are no serious about winning.
Playing not to lose instead of playing to win and being aggressive.

Wrong, Nick won a Natty in his 3rd year. If he had 4 years at Tennessee the player development would be better.
The players would be here by now and they'd have sound technique.. His teams had discipline, especially early in his run. They were the best team money could buy. Loved the comedian calling out the angry elf. He sits on a throne of lies.

Yes. They clearly do and they need to start with ellarbee, Martinez and Pope.
Mister T would be a better option for the team to get more physical. Our WR’s do not fight to get open and our DB’s still, still cannot locate the ball and get blown away way too much. Last night reminded me of the MCB vs Purdue in year 1.
OSU picked on our DB’s last night at will. And we were spotting them 10-12 yards and still couldn’t defend

Martinez should have never been hired since day one. There should be language at the Athletic Dept that says if you ever coached here with a looser coach( Butch Jones) you can't come back. Period.

Fully disagree. This was predominantly a coaching loss. Yes there is a talent gap with Tennessee and Ohio State, but there was zero evidence of a plan tonight. There were no adjustments. The biggest difference in this game is Ohio State has very good offensive and defensive coordinators who built a plan that suits the athletes they have.

Tennessee walked into this game like they were drunk and hung over and had no idea they were playing football
We looked like a poorly prepared DII team last night.

I look at it this way , say for instance our coaches came up with a masterful plan to pull off the upset vs OSU because that’s what it would have been . We are a mediocre football team in a completely overrated conference who has 2 teams every year that drubb everybody. Back to my point we win then go to Pasadena to play Oregon in the Rosebowl , Oregon would be favored by 16.5 and our defense would have been scorched, torched, and given up by half. Oregon would have put up 60 easy. We are not very good, we are mediocre and mediocre doesn’t win NC it wins Citrus and Music City bowls

Whose job is it to bring in and develop those LBs?
Some attributes can't be taught. Some attributes you're born with. We need LBs that are both with those attributes. You can't teach sideline to sideline speed or being able to cover in space. I've played LB and it is hard to keep your eyes on the QB and cover in space. You have to have a "feel" for it.

It’s all about money now. You wanna win at a high level. Better bring some coins. These kids wanna go where they’re gonna get paid the most to play, it’s that simple. Traditional recruiting will take a backseat to the money. Schools that spend the most will win the most. So if we’re not top 5 in nil it aint gonna happen.

Huge overhauls need to be made for this A tier team that made the playoffs. I would be so embarrassed if WVU was this bad.
What about the sell of china in China? A gig not worthy of commenting on.
WVU of the past 20 years has been bad, so bad they shouldn't be commenting because lower than bad is ugly bad and ugly bad is worse than bad.

You can't overhaul offense and defense staffs entirely at one time. OC, OL and WR are biggest needs I can see. DC is a problem, but circumstances this year make those optics look bad. Best case is that Banks gets HC job and Martinez retires . You probably lose Chop in that scenario, though.

I trust Heupel to keep some forward momentum with the offense. Especially since he has the same QB going into offseason.

If there was ever a time to overhaul the staff, you do it this offseason if Banks gets hired away

If he does not overhaul the offense now after 2 dreadful years, he is about 2 years from being temporarily jobless.

100% correct. Build your NIL net worth and they will come. Not winning Nattys with out spending the money.
