Coaching is the Issue

We definitely need to make some staff changes, but I think we should also acknowledge that we walked into a lions den last night against a team with better players and who had heard all the noise of losing to Michigan for a few weeks. We caught them at a bad time. Couple that with us not playing well and being out coached then last night should not be a surprise. Along with recruiting better, Heupel needs to do a better job getting his team motivated to come out strong in games like these - especially games on the road and after a bye week.

The surprising thing was how the defense didn’t stop ohio state passing game or put more pressure . Very disappointing to see as the vols Defense played much better with compatrable offenses .

Could not disagree more. As Mike Tyson said, everyone has a plan until you get punched in the mouth. Our players got punched and didn't respond

Josh has to make changes to the staff. I seriously think he is a good guy, but he has to be more cut throat, I know culture/family are important, but when you have family issues sometimes you have to disown your children. Seriously though there is no reason we play worse every year since 2022 while having more talent other than player development, aka coaching. The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over expecting a different result, changes are needed.

We lost to what everyone in the offseason would’ve agreed is the best roster in college football.

Clearly we should fire everyone

If Nico is this limited after arguably 2 seasons in practice/game situations, then I'm not sure he's the guy after all. This theory seems to be the speculation as to why UT's offense is so vanilla / predictable / unimaginative.

UT can't always be in "building mode". At some point, against top talent, it needs to be in "production mode". If it never gets there, who's fault is it exactly - the fans? the facilities? the alumni? the boosters? the players? (maybe) the coaches? (definitely).

Golesh makes about 2.5 at ucf/yr. as head coach.... Heups' at about 9.0../yr., as far as I have read... 21-22 was such an entertaining season with our offense. Can't blame anyone for wanting to better themselves (Golesh), but Heup should offer 5.0/yr, and try to bring him back. Let him choose his staff. That would alleviate Heup having to break up with his buddies. It's just business. All I'm saying, it's pretty obvious which way this offense is going. If Heup ain't careful, Nico could even consider the portal.
