Can purdue afford his buyout
This is hypothetical. He gets hired at 1.5 million and we pay him 500,000 per year. Sure he'll get raises to which would nullify his buyout. I have said I think he goes back to the midwest, but by no means am I starting rumor. At Purdue he can stay as long as he likes and we know he can recruit so average seasons won't get him in trouble. I have heard Maryland and Illinois are interested but no facts of course. I don't think he gets fired. If he leaves it will be on his own.
I think Maryland would be a great school if he were to leave . I doubt he leaves unless is pressured to
Get throttled by Bama and lose another game. He has already said he is surprised his family has gotten death threats so it is what it is. He is already under pressure but not by the AD, at least I don't think so.
Michigan State is a better job than South Carolina. Michigan State is a program that can win easier than Carolina. Dantonio isn't leaving MSU for S. Carolina. MSU is right there at the point of being able to compete for a National Title; Carolina is a dumpster fire right now.

If he leaves on his own, we owe him nothing; and he owes us a big check.
Yeah as I read his post, the logic proved he didnt understand the difference of being fired and hired away from buyout perspective. No way Butch wpuld choose Purdue over Tennessee unless a Frank Haith like situation after next season would look as though he still wasnt going to get it done. Then might go to lower program to start clock over. But this season no way he makes that move. Butch like most coaches has an ego. He has to be convinced that next season the wins will validate him and the way he has recruited. There is little chance he lets another guy do what McElwain and Meyer did with Zooks and Muschamps rosters. He wants it himself.
If he wins 7 or less then there might be a larg group of people pushing him out behind closed doors and a Maryland job is the absolute perfect position for him .
I think Colorado will be looking for a new head coach at the end of the season and I would put them in the same catagory as Maryland. Butch(If he were shown the door) would be a good hire for Colorado or Maryland. I think Butch stays after Tennessee wins 9 counting the Bowl game.
