Last year OU had home victories against Louisiana-Monroe (34-0), West Virginia (16-9), Tulsa (51-20), TCU (20-17), Texas Tech (38-30) and Iowa State (48-10). The margin of victory ranged from 3, 7, 8, 31, 34 and 38.

If we let them get on a roll, it could get ugly. But at least half their home wins were by a single score so the opponents took the game to the 4th quarter. That's what I want to see - the Vols with a chance to win in the 4th...

Its arguable, sure, but 0 starters returning on either side of the ball going into their home stadium would have to rank up there with any of those games you referred to imo.

We'll call it the 'Coalition of the Realists'. We are passionate about Tennessee football, love the school, and want nothing more than for our team to be relevant again. And with that, we recognize that we simply aren't there yet. In some circles, this description is what is known as a 'Negavol'.

If you meet the above criteria, please come on in and announce your presence now before the game even begins.

That way, if the Vols do win, we collectively admit we were wrong on all accounts and grossly underestimated CBJ and the team. However, if/when the Vols do lose, we won't have to engage in any amateurish gloating or I told you so's.

This won't end well...

I am a member of only one club and that club is the VFL club! Gloat, gloat, come on man, I will gloat about my beloved Vols win or lose!! The VFL club BELIEVES we are rising to the top brick by brick!!! Let's go kick some boomer sooner arse!!! ROCK THE WORLD OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL!! :yikes: Later we can talk about the victory while dining on smoked gator meat!!!

I guess because I've coached or played sports to long that I have a problem with saying we lose before you even play the game!! Should we lose on paper I think you could come to that conclusion for sure. I'm pretty sure the players also know this, but there is also the competitor inside us that believes we can beat them even though the odds are long. When I coached we played a bunch of teams I felt like were more talented, but that fired me up even more. It's why the game is played because of that chance!! It happen every week and that stupid little saying "Why not us", so there you have it. Why not us, why not Sat. 09-13-2014 can be the day the football Gods give us a break. Will it happen?? I sure as heck hope so, and I hope our boys believe we can. If you go in this game believing you can't win that's when you get young men that quit on you when things go bad. So there ya go my 2 cents worth!! GBO

I've been paid to play, so I get where you're coming from. Difference is no matter how much you or I want to win this game in particular, we have zero control over the way this plays out.

I agree, why not us? It would be AWESOME to win. I just don't expect it to happen.

Guidelines (and I almost broke them)-

No 'I told you so' threads on Saturday night

No gloating to all the butthurt sunshine pumpers (they have their own problems to deal with)

No involvement in furniture burning under any circumstance

If you agree to these terms, you are in.

What you said is true. But it is that same extreme end of the spectrum irrationality that will fuel most of these same people to start the "fire Butch" garbage if the team looses in a blow-out.

I might have joined this coalition on Monday or Tuesday, but it's Thursday and my glasses are completely orange and I've been hitting the kool aid since last night, so.....Go Vols!! Whip dey azz!!!
