College Baseball - Transfer Portal Tracker

True. There hasn’t been much momentum with him for us lately, at least not a lot of buzz I can hear. I think he is likely going to end up at LSU or MSU, but I wouldn’t count out Texas anymore now that they hired a really good pitching coach and they have glaring need for a rotation arm.

Maybe we can all agree then (if not TN)? 🤘

He won’t make a decision until after USA Baseball finishes in a couple of weeks. I’m guessing Miss St and A&M as front runners with Arkansas and Texas as long shots…Ole Miss possibly on the radar. I don’t see him signing anywhere but SEC/Texas.

Go Horns. Don’t need him in the SEC next year unless he wears orange. I don’t think we get him so I hope he goes to Texas.

At this point, it all comes down to Skenes and his expectations and Tennessee's vision for him.

There is a reason Frank Anderson was Texas' first choice to be their new pitching Coach. He is clearly one of the top pitching coaches in the college game. Look no further than his own son (Bret) who was recognized as the best high school pitching prospect in the nation in 2006.

Or Garrett Crochet, who was considering JUCO until Coach Vitello and Coach Anderson convinced him to come to Tennessee. I think Garrett was drafted 11th in the first round.

Or Blade Tidwell who is projected as a first round pick in the up-coming draft.

Or Chase Dollander barring injury may be the first pick in next years draft.

Or Burns and Beam....you get the message.

With our rotation (to me) the selling point is Iron sharpens iron...it's up to Paul Skenes to make the best decision for himself. Although I am a realist, I do believe Coach Anderson and his track record is a major recruiting draw.

Yeah, I would say Texas might be the best situation for him if he wants a great pitching coach and a really good shot at a weekend starting slot.

I think we are probably done in the portal. Tony had said back in May that we’d take 2-3, and only a 4th if the right guy presented himself.

Well, we have 3. We missed on White and likely will miss on Skenes. So, I think we’re done.

The best part of the portal has just been none of our guys that were vying for PT actually entered. Speaks volumes of the culture here and has me excited for next year.

Let’s not lose sight of having a great haul from the portal. Ahuna commited early, so that’s a distant memory, but that Is a great pickup for us.

Someone mentioned it a few pages back (sorry, too lazy to scroll back and find it). There was a lot of talk this year about Burns being a projected bullpen arm long term due to his stuff/pitch arsenal… is it crazy to think you could potentially sell Skenes on being a starter and moving Burns to our closer role?

As much as I would like to have added Skenes, you are correct. Our three weekend starters were all too good for CTV to honestly be able to offer him much immediate hope if that is one of his demands.

With said, if Paul comes, these things have a way of working themselves out. You can never have enough pitching.

BREAKING: TRANSFER PORTAL UPDATE !!!

- At 9:00AM UTC today, "Sam I Am" entered the Transfer Portal.
- At 9:03AM UTC today, Sam I Am's destination was announced via a friend's InstaFaceGram page since Sam I Am has no known social media apps.
- At 9:04AM UTC today, Sam I Am released the following message on said friends InstaGramFackTok........

"After several years of faithful cheering from Section D at LNS, I am annoucning today that I will be tranfering to Section A. I would like to thank my fellow Section D fans, except Kevin, for their friendship, loyalty and perseverance. We have watched some pretty lean times in that section together over the years. Now, we have enjoyed 4 straight years of hyper-prosperity! Wow, what a ride! I like to think we all had something to do with that.

However, it has become painfully obvious that with the new influx of fans at LNS, that the players, umpires, and opposing batters cannot hear me from my old seats. We are simply too far from the field, 4,000 - 5,000 fans per game and subsequent increase in decibels, my age, I just simply cannot yell loud enough to have an effect on the outcomes of games. I SQUARELY PUT THESE SETS OF CIRCUMSTANCES ON THE FINAL OUTCOME OF GAME 3 OF THE 2022 KNOXVILLE SUPER REGIONALS!!!

We believe that the 4 new seats in Section A, easily within ear shot of the home dugout, umpires and opposing batters will have an immediate effect.

Again, thanks for the memories Section D ! Except you Kevin, you sumanabytch!

Go Vols.
