I’d take him in a heart beat

Pitching under Frank Anderson is a plus for him to consider us. But pitching in LNS is not. (All the more reason to make the new park of larger dimensions - to attract high quality pitching transfers). He also has lots of competition here, which he might look at as a plus.

What you say makes sense but we don’t seem to have any problems attracting excellent pitching.

I think it's Anderson and Vitello that make the program attractive to top flight pitchers. I doubt it has much to do with our hitter's ballpark.

If I were a pitcher, I wouldn't go to a school just for the size of the park. You only play a portion of your games at home, and the MLB will change if you aspire to get there. To me, it's about development.

Agreed. Top level pitchers are top level pitchers because they are talented and are confident in their abilities. A “small ballpark” is not a factor. Guys like that believe they can get anyone out and the ballpark size doesn’t matter. It doesn’t affect recruiting.

Findlay didn’t seem to have any issue completely dominating and shutting us down in LNS, so not sure why he’d be scared of park dimensions. Weird thing to say. We had the #1 rotation era where half our games were played in LNS.

Regardless, I don’t think we’re actually a threat to land him. He’ll go to FSU with Link or accept a king’s ransom in NIL and go to LSU. Nowhere else.

How did Coach Vitello manage such a great hire as a brand new coach when he came to Tennessee in Frank Anderson? Was there a history between the two of them working together?

They knew each other from the recruiting trail and past employers.......the baseball network is a small one, relatively speaking

I can't remember it precisely, but I thought I read somewhere that the two of them were both assistants on the same staff earlier in their careers. But don't quote me on that.
they were not........they crossed paths many times when Frank was at Oklahoma/Houston and CTV at TCU/Arkansas as well as recruiting the same geographic area for the most part

Played at TCU when CTV was an assistant. CTV got him the Volunteer job at Arkansas right before CTV was hired by UT, then he brought Josh with him here. Josh was in the right place at the right time….plus he’s good at what he does.
Thanks, love that.

Hanging by a thread. But, every other coach in the country is telling him to decline the Vols. Way too much competion for pitching starts.

It’s interesting, because being a starting pitcher is probably not where teams would project his skill set best if I had to make a guess. He’s a solid catcher with an elite bat. That is RARE for a catcher.

Just look at Kevin Parada from GT. He’s seen as a Top 5-6 pick and most mocks have mentioned his average defense, but project it can be improved. He’s regarded so highly because it’s not often you get someone behind the plate with a bat like Parada or Skenes. My guess is if he sticks with catcher, he’ll be a Top 10 pick next year.
