I'm not. But its very possible. They're not even close to automatic L's. Why would they be?

Wouldn't bother trying to reason with most on here. A lot of these are the same people that are saying we will be lucky to beat W Ky because Patrino is there now. No thought to the actual talent level that is there, just Patrino coaching.

Same people also forget the talent that IS here and the fact that we have a better coach. I don't know if he is a great coach (time will tell on that), but he IS a better coach already....without having coached a single game here.

it's just like dr.lou saying nd would win a nc every year.they will finally be playing for one.how many years has he been predicting a nc for nd?

But but but Dooley left us in MUCH better shape than he found us...

He re-built the roster and stabilized the program. Now someone should be able to take over for smooth sailing to championships. Sarcasm

Going back to the 4-3 will help the defense alone. That's what they was recruited for anyways. Hunter wasn't a big factor this year. C flash P WILL be missed however. I think we'll do better than most think.

Hunter was a factor. One of the better seasons in UT history for a WR.

While that may not entirely be the case...he did inherit a football program that did not even have a full roster...

Just sayin...

I concede he filled the roster but he did anything but stabilize the program. Hoping for good things with Butch.

With our OL in tact, running game having moved forward, and the fact that our defense can't possibly be any worse, 6-6 or 7-5 shouldn't be too difficult. If some receivers step up and Worley/Peterman can be the game managing QBs that Bama depends on we could be a decent team.

All i know is nothing surprises me anymore about our vols. I expected so much more this year. I will wait till next christmas to spit some thoughts in hindsight with ya'll.

Anything less than 9 or 10 games should never be considered a "job well done" at a traditional football school like UT. Bill Battle got fired for losses that are being pre-excused for Jones.

Lowering expectations lowers results and rewards mediocrity. Yet every year, UT fans lower expectations a little more and seem surprised when our record continues to drop. If winning 5 or 6 games is acceptable, we should have kept DooleyCo, banked our $6+ mil and tried to beat Ole Miss at tailgating.

We'll never beat Ole Miss at tailgating. They have too much in state talent.

Preseason speculations in college football always do a wonderful job of overrating and underrating teams with a few exceptions of teams that perform as expected. We have no idea what we're going to be like next year. We still have talent and I've seen many a team that lost big names only to win much better with teams that didn't have as many stars but just gelled as a team. Of course we've all seen star-studded teams that perform as expected too. There's a reason college football is known for its unpredictability.

The season before us could be worse than we ever expected or better than we ever expected.

Absolutely! If I remember correctly, we were finished when Peyton left - no more great seasons for the Vols...Then, there came along a man named "Martin" and the rest is history in Tempe [and I was there to enjoy every second of it]....
